David, I have not met @GSpier in person, but he has influenced my life and career despite that by introducing me to @PRamanathan and @ValuexME and the @VALUExZH community. I also have to add that you are a giver too - you follow Guy’s ideals in sharing your knowledge and advice freely with anyone who approaches you. I followed you at CBS and you introduced me to Guy and his work. Guy should be proud that he had a big influence on you and many others like me through you. I wish Guy plenty of strength to overcome his challenges. 🙏

I foresee Dubai and the UAE becoming a center for Jewish life. In doing so it will become a cultural capital of the world. Meanwhile, places like London, Paris, Marseilles and Birmingham if they don't stop the exodus of jews from their midst - will become Muslim Brotherhood wastelands. Women hidden by the veil, rape gangs lying is wait to predate on teenage western girls, child brides, sharia courts, first cousin marriages and soccer fans banned by crooked police offices for ther ethnicity. Thank you Dubai. Thank you UAE. If Europe succumbs to political islam, not only Israel, but also the UAE is looking like a very viable option. Thank you @HilzFuld for the write-up. This is me attending @ValuexME just after the Abraham accords where signed and going for a swim in the Arabian / Persian Gulf.
Bye bye, Dubai! Israel, we’re coming home!! Two years ago, on our 20th anniversary, we planned a getaway in Dubai. That was supposed to happen in October 2023… That trip didn’t happen for obvious reasons. Until now. So how was it? I’ll start off by saying that there are not many things I hate more than leaving Israel. Whether it’s for business or pleasure, if it was up to me, I’d never leave. That being said, Dubai is pretty darn awesome, especially as a car guy. Some of the cars I saw in our three days in Dubai: - Lambos galore - Endless Rolls’ including a ride home from dinner in a wraith. More on that later. - Ferraris everywhere - A cool H1 Hummer - Corvettes are like Toyotas in Dubai! The list just goes on. Photos to follow… As far as activities, on the first day, we went jeeping and ATVing in the desert, which was both terrifying and epic. What an adrenaline rush that was! It was a half day event and ended with a kosher BBQ in the middle of the desert. Speaking of Kosher, Dubai has quite the kosher food scene and that’s because it has a really special Jewish community! We experienced zero antisemitism. In fact, on several occasions, when asked where we’re from, the person was delighted to hear Tel Aviv. We met some old friends and made some new ones. We walked around Dubai for many hours and enjoyed the unique culture, which is hard to describe in words. I didn’t post anything about our trip till now for obvious reasons but not gonna lie, it makes me sad that we’ve gotten here and that posting where I am on social media is now a security risk. On our last night, some friends took us out to dinner at a local kosher steakhouse and the food was good but the company, excellent. One of the people who showed up drove us back to the hotel in his Rolls Wraith, which was a once in a lifetime experience. The epitome of luxury!! See the picture of those stars above our heads? Yea, that’s the interior of the Rolls Royce. 🤯 Oh, and the shopping was legendary. I got myself a Patek Nautilus!! Yea, right. It’s not real. 🤣 But it’s a pretty darn good replica and in my opinion, it looks incredible! It was a fantastic trip and it is not lost on us that we’re able to travel to a Muslim country and experience zero antisemitism, which you can’t say for basically any western country. So crazy! As far as Islam, there is definitely a lot of of that. Whether it’s women with only their eyes showing, separate seating on the metro in the airport, or everyone you see dressed in Muslim garb, which gives me hope for humanity, seeing as everyone lives in peace with absolutely no tension and no conflict. Everything is super efficient with apps for ordering food, apps for getting around, and just a very enjoyable overall experience. That is, except for the airport. The airport, both when we landed and departed, well, let’s just say it was far from efficient. Oh; and I waited to post this till we boarded because we were stuck in the news waiting to see if Trump would attack Iran and all flights to Israel would be canceled. Thanks Donald for waiting. 🤣 Ok, heading home! Was fun, but there is simply no place like Israel!

Most people think communication is about speaking. I used to think so too. Then I learned that the real power lies in listening. Not the kind of listening that waits for its turn to talk. The kind that stays curious long enough to be changed by what it hears. In my early career, I spoke too much and heard too little. At Toastmasters-Dubai, I discovered how silence builds confidence. In investing, I learned how listening reveals integrity. And at @ValuexME , I witnessed how listening builds trust that compounds. Over the years, I’ve realized something simple: The people who listen deeply often see furthest. Because wisdom doesn’t always speak loudly, it often sits quietly, waiting to be heard. If that idea resonates, you’ll enjoy my latest In All Humility essay: “Lessons in Listening” below. Follow me @PRamanathan for more content on value investing. x.com/PRamanathan/status/200…

Some rooms change how you think. A few change who you are. When I look back on my life, I don’t remember milestones or job titles. I remember rooms. A small Toastmasters meeting in 1996 that taught me the courage to speak. A quiet gathering in Klosters that taught me the humility to listen. And a conference in Dubai (@ValuexME ) that taught me the joy of learning together. Each room made me feel small at first. But that smallness was never weakness. It was the beginning of growth. Because every time I walked into a room where I wasn’t the smartest person, I walked out a little wiser. That’s what this new essay is about — The spaces that shape us, the people who teach us without trying, and the kind of learning that can’t be found in books. If you’ve ever been in a room that quietly changed you, this might resonate. 👉 Read “The Rooms That Changed Me”. The best part of every conference isn’t just the sessions, it’s the conversations that follow. Tonight, the #ValuexME community came together over food, laughter, and shared ideas. Grateful to see connections turning into friendships, and insights turning into conviction. #ValueInvesting #DubaiEvents #ValuexME2025

One of the principles we hold sacred at ValuexME is non-solicitation. It means something very simple: we are here to learn from each other, not to sell to each other. This principle might seem small, but it changes the entire atmosphere of the room. When people walk in without an agenda, conversations shift. Curiosity replaces caution. Trust replaces transaction. I’ve seen it happen over and over again. Someone shares an investing journey — not as a pitch, but as a story. Another person responds, not with “let’s do business,” but with “here’s what I’ve seen.” Suddenly, a real dialogue begins. And ironically, that’s when the most meaningful connections happen. Because trust grows when no one is trying to take something from you. Trust grows when the only currency exchanged is honesty and experience. In my early years as an investor, I was often in rooms where every conversation had a hidden agenda. You could sense the sales pitch waiting in the wings. It left little space for genuine learning. That’s why this principle matters so much to me. @ValuexME is designed to be different. A place where the walls come down, where humility has room to breathe, and where the goal is not to close deals but to open minds. The paradox is that by removing solicitation, we create the conditions for real alignment. The kind that lasts far longer than any transaction. 👉 As we prepare for ValuexME 2025, I’m reminded that the best rooms are not built on agendas—they’re built on trust. 👉 To know more, visit valuexME.com

VALUExME - the place to be in early November. @PRamanathan
In 1996, a few of us brought Toastmasters to Dubai. I had no idea then how much fulfilment I would find in building communities where people learn from one another. Years later, my investing journey took me to Klosters, where I sat in a room full of brilliant minds at @GSpier 's @VALUExZH . I felt like an imposter again, just as I did in those early days. But instead of fear, I chose gratitude. Gratitude for the chance to sit in a room that made me feel small. Because the best rooms are the ones where growth happens. With Guy’s encouragement, we brought that spirit to the Middle East in 2021. That’s how ValuexME was born. It wasn’t about creating a conference. It was about creating a space. A space where people come without an agenda, where sharing matters more than selling, and where humility builds trust. Today, every @ValuexME reminds me why community matters. It’s not about the stage or the spotlight. It’s about the conversations at coffee breaks, the insights exchanged over dinner, and the relationships that last long after the event ends. The journey from Toastmasters to Klosters to Dubai has taught me one thing: when you create spaces for learning, you also create spaces for trust, growth, and connection. 👉 This November, I look forward to seeing this community gather again at ValuexME 2025. Each year, I come away humbled, reminded once more that none of us is as smart as all of us. 👉 To know more, visit valuexme.com/

😍😍😍 VALUExME the place to be in early November @PRamanathan so privileged to be part of the journey - even if I can't be there every year.

I heartily second your assessment Guy. Mallika and I had the opportunity to spend time with Veronica and David in Dubai on the sidelines of ValuexME. Wise head on young shoulders indeed
