Isn't that the point? I interpreted it as an exaggeration of the virtualizations we see online, trads and whatnot.

My impression is that OS teaches one to build abstractions, and the principles behind the core abstractions generalize to higher order virtualizations.

Whatever could ever happen to you is always through your permission unconsciously. Unlike in a computer though, all possible realities are but virtualizations and your body is the RAT, They tend to deceive this is real and they the RAT! You've root(God) access in all realities

Johann gave an amazingly helpful $QANX update Dear QAN Community, First let me acknowledge your frustration about the slight Testnet relaunch delay, I do share a fair bit of that too. I also realize that I have it far easier than you, because I see the reasons and the next steps in-depth. I'll try to answer the questions which came up most regarding this: What is Kubernetes? Does it imply any additional audits? Kubernetes is a container orchestration system. Similar to the "smaller brother" Docker Swarm, but much more fine-tunable and resilient. It does not mean any additional audits. For Enterprise grade software usually the choice of container orchestration system is part of the evaluation if there is one. For public blockchains this is never part of the audit scope, as it is more of an operational question and not about protocol correctness. TLDR: This will not cause any kind of additional delay for the Mainnet. There was a previous Testnet audit and an operational Testnet before. Why is all this needed again? Those Testnets were way less capable, the one to be started soon is a fundamentally different product. This is actually Testnet V4 now, as a recap: - V1 Testnet only had XLINK Post-Quantum protection and basic ETH compatibility without smart contracts at all (no EVM, no QVM). You could verify that Post-Quantum protection works and you are still able to use MetaMask - V2 Testnet was actually an Ethereum Testnet Layer2 which only demonstrated that QVM is possible. It was running on ETH Ropsten enabling developers to run QVM and use Ropsten for state management. - V3 Testnet had the same XLINK Post-Quantum protection but came with full ETH compatibility (including EVM) and Layer1 integration of QVM for the first time. - V4 Testnet is coming up which includes the latest audited versions of XLINK and QVM. In short the fundamental changes of these two components are: - XLINK: - updated PQC from Dilithium to ML-DSA (following NIST standardization) - payload types and payload versioning was included resulting in efficiency getting a magnitude better - "Relink" operation was added for emergency key revocations - QVM: - The list is so long it would not fit here anyway. We even discovered Hardware vendors not following virtualizations specs for example. For a detailed feature list anyone can read Hacken's QVM audit. Will there be additional versions of Testnet like v2 v3 v4 before Mainnet? How long will this take? In light of clarifying the Testnet versions above, I guess the question meant whether there will be V5, V6, V7, etc. Surely there will be more variants of the Testnet, but not before Mainnet. Testnets are always meant for testing Pre-Mainnet functionality, so the regular release cycle goes like: - New features are designed and developed - These features are incorporated into the Testnet code - New Testnet code is rolled out to the public - Evaluation is conducted based real-world operations - If the feedback loop is positive, these changes are merged into Mainnet How long will the integration audit take? Different options are being evaluated at the moment. Quotations and possible timeframes were already requested and partially received. Most likely we will go with the quickest option at this time, with including a new feature: On-Chain governance and protocol upgrades. This enables us to start Mainnet ASAP and have deterministic upgrade possibility with next features to be rolled out being decided on-chain. Now Mainnet is 4 years in development and it was always being said that "it is coming now". Why? Because at the time it was always realistic, just as it is now. One has to see that real-world adaption should always be a priority compared to just a synthetic "Mainnet launch". There are countless examples in the industry of so-called "ghost-chains". This term means that the Mainnet launches and there are no users (nor enterprise nor retail) to transact. [Rest of post in my reply]

Just let C devs be. I don't see many C advocates making fun of the Rust incidents. Because they are busy developing drivers, kernels, mathlibs, file systems, virtualizations, Graphical libs, databases, etc.

For OS/Linux part, Follow these - Virtualizations and VMs - File Systems Structure - CLI interface - Package Manager - Distros - Text Editors - User/Group Accounts - File Permissions - Basic CLI commands - Env Variable - SSH These will give you a solid foundation

Aight boys/girls... another day of watching videos and note taking. 🤣 On the other hand, I will be slowly replacing my home lab to add a LLM portion as well as a new server(s) to handle network/VM virtualizations for testing. Quiet is key here since it is a home lab. 🤔

It is interesting that, even if Rust is "secure" by its design, these secure-oriented Rust projects (secure containers or virtualizations) are directly derived from Linux Kernel-level facilities such as KVM, QEMU, written in pure C. How could it be secure when the fundamental stuff is in C (which is claimed as insecure)?

TRIGGER WARNING: sex-related philosophy post Almost all masturbation and all pornography usage are virtualizations of a biological teleology, specifically our natural means of realizing the telos of reproduction: sex. Because the achievement of a natural end is rewarded with pleasure, simulation of that ends achievement does much the same and it reinforces that condition in the psyche. The further removed the simulation is from its default means, the more severe the consequent paraphilia will be. [not advocacy] Because of this it is the case that the most realistic simulations are the least deleterious, though none will escape removal from the natural means. You might think that the most realistic simulations would consequence indifference to the real thing, but it actually consequences maintained attraction to the real thing on account of conditioning oneself thereto—whereas the more removed and deranged the usage is, the tastes and attraction will develop in suit. If you have a porn addiction, (y haven't u listened to Varg, TGO or SolBrah yet?) it is very important that at the very least—you don't spiral into developing tastes out of touch with your biological teleology, which is to say what you're supposed to like. That's really less than the bare minimum admittedly, but it might be helpful for severe psychohazard prevention.
