ALT Stages 2 and 3 of a visual pattern built using Duplo Lego. Stage 2 has 3 blue blocks and 1 yellow block. Stage 3 has 5 blue blocks and 3 yellow blocks.

In similar fashion to my “What Do You See?” activity, IM1s will build on their classmates’ annotations of a #visualpattern.
These 9th graders are good at writing Ax B expressions, but need practice thinking more flexibly.
It was so awesome…

What Do You See? activity focus on describing a growing (non linear) pattern with words and color. Choosing not to rush to algebraic expression.
