ESPN attempted takeover of CFB is almost exactly like the WWFs take over of wrestling Wrestling was perfect with the territories then 1 guy with some $$ decided to buck the system & take everything - destroying it all

The stars that left WWE for WCW was only part of the equation. What really pulled WCW ahead of WWE was that they started doing something different in prime time against them. They weren't trying to be a cheap imitation of WWE, they went and did their own thing and had confidence in doing so. If the WCW/NWA had a prime time show on TBS back in the mid 80s when they had the Horsemen, Dusty, the Road Warriors, etc they would have done amazing. Their shows were so much better than WWFs. But instead JCP was sold and the leaders of WCW just copied WWE as much as possible. Ugh. Even in the late 80's they could have done great. Even from day one when Hogan debuted in WCW, I always said he should be a bad guy there. His first match was Flair (the best of NWA/WCW) against Hogan (the best of WWF) in a WCW ring and Hogan won in his first match there, like WTF!!! When WCW did shows in WCW territory, the fans literally booed Hogan everytime, but yet they pushed Hogan trying to mimic WWE. So yeah I give Bischoff credit for having the guts to be like, yeah give me a weekly prime time show and did things differently. Then WCW became stale and once WWE changed their formula and retook the lead, WCW fell back into just copying WWE again.

Some are. Thing is, everyone’s quick to list reasons why Hogan wasn’t in that spot, citing WWFs global presence etc… but so far, I ain’t seen an explanation for anyone else being in that spot. It’s all presumptive “real fans know..” shite without anyone committing to it 😆

I’m an autistic freak so I looked up WWFs 1987 schedule and they never ran two shows in the same city. They would run two shows the same day with *different people in different cities* but Hogan was not wrestling multiple times a day with the WWF

Are you talking about terrestrial TV (world of sport) because it was huge in the uk for Sky TV (sky sports, sky one) in the 90s. Hell that’s the reason that summerslam was at Wembley in 92 and wasn’t that one of WWFs biggest attendances?

Oh easily true. He was the WWFs golden boy and most likable star. HH is like Michael in basketball. The undeniable goat.

Didn’t strike while the iron was hot with DDP. If he beats Goldberg at Halloween Havic you ignore the finger poke of doom BS and the war doesn’t sway massively in WWFs favour. People were tired of Hogan’s BS at that point

Savage v Steamboat was also arguably WWFs best match. Not enough love for the Dragon.

1996 was the year WWFs attendance business turned around. Average attendance in 96 was the highest since 1991 and continued to grow every year untill 2000 after dropping every year since 1991. So Shawn was the catalyst behind that.

On this day 28 years ago! #WrestleMania XIV which was the first of the attitude era and cemented WWFs run over WCW atop the landscape. Austin one his first World Title over HBK. Still the only Mania ever in Boston.

I spent my middle school years in a card & comic book store playing all the odd card games; MLB “The Show”, Magic The Gathering, and “Raw Deal”. RD was WWFs interactive card game and it was the best. That video was everything I remember it was and more.

Lutnick also picked the cabinet.. along with WWFs Linda MacMahon of course. Great Piper's Pit episode they did in Butler Pennsylvanian that day in 24. Hilariously sloppy and bad.

I think that’s Francine in early ECW. She was basically ECWs version of WWFs Sunny.

I was trying to explain to someone HHH took advantage of how paper thin WWFs main event roster was in 99-2000 and they thought I was just hating but honestly it was so bad they tried to insert Big Show and Rikishi as heels 😂. Jericho was the 1st person to breakout and got buried
