"Because of people like you who cheered on a war against your own country" How asinine of statement is that. How about the regime that has been waging wars on its ow people. List of atrocities against the people of Iran The 1988 Prison Massacres:30,000 killed Iran Iraq War: Sending thousands of child soldiers to die. The Chain Murders (1988–1998):Regime intelligence operatives systematically assassinated dissident intellectuals, writers, and political activists—both inside Iran and abroad. The 1999 Student Uprising Crackdown. Security forces and Ansar-e Hezbollah vigilantes attacked Tehran University dormitories, beating students, throwing some from upper floors, killing several, and arresting hundreds. This became a pattern template for future crackdowns. The 2009 Green Movement Crackdown. Following the disputed re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, millions protested. The regime responded with mass violence. Security forces killed dozens of protesters (the iconic shooting of Neda Agha-Soltan was captured on video). Thousands were arrested and held in Kahrizak detention center and elsewhere, where detainees were subjected to rape, torture, and murder. Several prisoners died in custody under circumstances indicating torture. The November 2019 Massacre. After fuel price protests erupted nationwide, the regime imposed a near-total internet blackout and unleashed lethal force. Estimates from Reuters and other organizations suggest approximately 1,500 people were killed within days—the deadliest crackdown since 1988. Snipers fired on crowds from rooftops, and security forces used machine guns against unarmed protesters. The January 2026 Massacre. The most recent and possibly most devastating single event. After nationwide protests escalated on January 8, 2026, Iran's security forces carried out mass killings. Thousands of protesters and bystanders are believed to have been killed, while severe communications restrictions concealed the true scale. Human Rights WatchSecurity forces used heavy machine guns, shotguns, and rifles against protesters, including children. Human Rights Watch Opposition networks and independent monitors estimate more than 20,000 people were killed within forty-eight hours, with over 25,000 arrested in Tehran alone. The Jerusalem Strategic Tribune As of February 2026, more than 53,000 people had been arrested, with activists, lawyers, and civil society figures increasingly targeted. Reports of deaths in custody emerged as authorities fast-tracked sham trials, with children at risk of execution. Center for Human Rights in Iran Authorities withheld bodies of victims, denied families the right to bury and mourn their loved ones, and in some cases buried the bodies without families' knowledge
