Our Secretary General Musonda Mumba joined evian® in celebrating 200 years of origins — a journey shaped by Alpine snow, ancient stone, and 15 years of natural filtration through protected wetlands.
For over 28 years,
@Danone has been a key cooperation partner of the Convention on Wetlands. While the Impluvium of Evian is designated as a Wetland of International Importance, Danone’s stewardship extends across the entire recharge basin, ensuring long term protection of the ecosystem that it depends on.
Through close collaboration with local authorities, farmers, and communities, Danone supports land use planning, sustainable agriculture, and water management practices that keep the landscape healthy. This community based approach helps maintain water quality, preserve biodiversity, and ensure that the ecosystems supporting evian® remain resilient for generations.
As Nathalie Dörfliger, (Woman Changemaker 2026) Watershed Science and Stewardship Director at Danone, reminds us: “Water systems do not stop at administrative or technical boundaries. Wetlands, soil, rivers, aquifers, and land use form a single living ecosystem.”
By involving the people who live and work within this landscape, Danone helps empower local communities to become co guardians of the ecosystem.
The
#Evian200Years celebration is a powerful reminder: Clean water starts with thriving ecosystems. Protect wetlands, protect our future.
Wetlands = nature’s water guardians.
