🎥 We held a close-out meeting for our Community Legal Volunteers (CLVs) under the #WeCannotWaitProject, which has been implemented across Kampala, Gulu, Pader, and Lira. Over the course of the project, these CLVs have been instrumental in mobilizing communities, creating awareness, and linking women and girls to essential health, legal, and psychosocial services 🌍. Their dedication and grassroots engagement have been key to the impact we’ve seen on the ground, and this meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on their achievements, share learnings, and celebrate their invaluable contributions. With support from @wecannotwait, we brought justice and peace to Napeipelu village, Napak District, through a successful locus mediation. A widow, Ms. Paulina, had been under pressure from her late husband's second wife and children, who forcefully invaded her home and subjected her to repeated violence.💔 With participants including Elders, @PoliceUg, and local leaders, the mediation ended in a fair agreement: Ms. Paulina retained half the land, and the second wife’s son was ordered to vacate her house. Community leaders praised FIDA Uganda for restoring harmony and standing up for women's rights in rural communities.👏 This case is a reminder of the challenges many widows face in claiming their rightful land, especially in patriarchal settings. It underscores the importance of legal empowerment and community-based dispute resolution in advancing access to justice for vulnerable women, a core part of our mission. #WeCannotWaitProject
