Sundays Still Feel Special – Retiring in Japan 🇯🇵
Yesterday felt like a vacation day at home. 🏡 The rain came down softly all day, and we went out just twice—once for a bit of shopping, and once to visit our favorite
#AntiqueStore: a
#Showa-era apartment building lovingly renovated with warm
#Meiji-era touches. It’s exactly the kind of
#JapanStyle Yumiko and I quietly appreciate.
The rest of the day passed indoors, listening to the rain, letting things slow down. After months of
#Moving,
#Renovation, and settling in, it was a welcome pause.
Today has a different rhythm. We’ll head downtown to the big
#FleaMarket, where our favorite vendors gather with antiques and oddities. 🎎 A little more movement, a little more energy—but still simple, still light.
Though we’re no longer on a Monday-to-Friday schedule, we both find that Sundays still feel special. ☀️ There’s something grounding about sharing a day of rest with the wider community—a kind of quiet that comes not from being still, but from being part of something familiar.
