Mogabay India has featured Kadambari Deshpande, post-doctoral Fellow with the IIHS Long-Term Urban Ecological Observatory (LTUEO), and Vedant Barke, Consultant at IIHS LTUEO and lead at WildTech Project, Wildlife Conservation Trust, who have developed a solar-powered, automated bat detection system, designed for continuous, real-time monitoring. Unlike the trigger-based bat detectors, BatEchoMon listens continuously and is configured to activate automatically at sunset when bats begin flying.
