☁️ CLOUD VILLAGE QUIZ TIME! ☁️ 👇 The Scenario: Inside AWS Account 111122223333, a Lambda function in a private VPC runs Athena queries (workgroup: data-pipeline-wg) and writes results to an S3 bucket (results-bucket). To keep traffic internal, VPC Interface Endpoints are deployed: 🔹 S3 Endpoint Policy: Restricts traffic strictly to results-bucket in account 111122223333. 🔹 Athena Endpoint Policy: Left blank (Default: Full Access). The Lambda's IAM role is perfectly scoped down to just that workgroup and bucket. Question: What is the security gap? 🔹 A) Lambda doesn't support S3 interface endpoints. 🔹 B) The open Athena endpoint allows a compromised VPC resource to query rogue/external AWS accounts. 🔹 C) The S3 endpoint must use aws:sourceVpce instead of account restrictions. 🔹 D) IAM roles cannot be restricted to specific Athena workgroup ARNs. 👇 Cast your vote below! Drop your explanations in the comments—we’ll reveal the deep-dive answer Thursday! 🦖 #CloudVillage #DEFCON34 #CloudSecurity

"The first workgroup will consider the use of standardized test scores in freshman admissions, while the second will focus on reviewing the UC system’s current “A-G” admissions framework “to determine whether A-G requirements adequately prepare first-year applicants for success.” Both groups are required to present a final report with their findings to the BOARS chair by May 15, 2027." dailycal.org/news/uc/joining…

It's hard to grasp just how uneducated our modern children are. Too many can't pass a grade school test. They are NOT "dumb." Just ignorant. For instance: A November 2025 report by UCSD's Senate-Administration Workgroup on Admissions found that about one in every eight students in the 2025 incoming class failed to meet high school math standards — and about 70% of those students did not even meet middle school standards. Examples: · 61% of students who took a skills assessment test designed and administered by the UCSD Mathematics Department could not correctly round the number 374,518 to the nearest hundred, a third-grade skill. · Twenty-five percent could not solve the following equation: 7 2 = _ 6, a first-grade skill. It's gotten so bad, the faculty at many good colleges (specifically the CA UC universities) want to require applicants to take SAT or ACT tests, verifying that they can benefit from college level classes.

Last week was yet another busy one! @globegov’s Government Service Delivery 2026 was a great opportunity to bring technology leaders from around the world to Washington, DC, and continue conversations we started in London. It was also a chance to learn from others who are tackling many of the same challenges we face. We also held our prior authorization roundtable, kicking off a workgroup focused on driving automated prior authorization processes into production well ahead of the January 1, 2027 deadline. As a bonus, I got to help celebrate Dr. Oz's birthday by taking an axe to a cake topped with a clipboard. A fitting way to reinforce our "Kill the Clipboard" mission, both for prior authorization and for patients. Over the weekend, I enjoyed the UFC events in DC. The ceremonial weigh-in and the Zac Brown Band concert were incredible, and so were the fights. Progress happens when great people come together to solve hard problems. Grateful for the conversations, collaboration, and momentum last week. Looking forward to what comes next.

You can watch Prof. Cai present to the Regents in their May 21, 2020 meeting when they voted to remove the SAT, here: youtube.com/live/_OF_-epWecw… (from 2:05:03). He speaks against using the SBAC in standardized testing, as an SAT alternative. The UC convened a workgroup 5 years ago that also concluded to not use the SBAC: regents.universityofcaliforn… And guess what: UC has just a week and a half ago convened a new workgroup in academic year 2026-27 to deliberate...whether we should use the SBAC in admissions: senate.universityofcaliforni… (see charge of workgroup #1 on page 7) 🤡

My guess is that they’ll reduce the Area E (language other than English) requirement to 1 year. I’m optimistic that the recent pushback against “data science” courses will prevent the workgroup from allowing that as one of the 3 Area C (math) courses.

"Notably, the workgroup is not allowed to consider enhancing requirements, only reduce them." That's not what the excerpt says, though. It does say they can't increase the number of subject areas or number of courses. They could keep the # constant but select harder courses.
