During the initial 167 days of 2026, there have been no reports of non-fatal shootings, stabbings, or homicides involving young men of color aged 12 to 24 within the 12 designated hotspot patrol zones of the Indianapolis TenPoint Coalition, in collaboration with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) and the community. I am heading to 42nd and Mitthoefer Rd to patrol the Carriage House East Apartments. I stopped at 42nd and Post Rd, where the Town and Terrace Apartments used to be before they were torn down. This was one of the most dangerous parts of the city. In January 2018, Indy TenPoint Coalition started patrolling that area. The first six months were tough. I remember getting a phone call from an ex-gang member who told me about an 18-year-old who was missing. I was told he had been killed, and his body had been placed in one of the abandoned apartments in Town and Terrace Apartments. I contacted IMPD and shared the information, and they found the body. After Indy TenPoint established itself in the area, from June 2018 to June 2019, in partnership with IMPD and the community, there were no homicides in one of the city's worst zones—38th to 42nd St between Post Rd and Mitthoefer Rd. There was a time when the city asked community groups and anti-violence organizations to help IMPD downtown on the weekends, and this approach was highly successful in reducing youth violence. The teens going downtown were the same juveniles we were dealing with in the neighborhoods. The community groups and anti-violence organizations engaged juveniles downtown and helped identify youth who threatened the peace. All of us working together helped keep the peace and the downtown safe. ##ResultsMatter #WorkingTogetherWorks

The Indianapolis TenPoint Coalition aims to reduce urban youth violence, which disproportionately affects young men of color ages 12-24. The essential step to stopping this urban youth violence is establishing relationships with children, youth, and families in these hotspot patrol areas. Building relationships with families in the Indianapolis TenPoint Coalition patrol areas also helps us address quality-of-life issues. I have 25 Indianapolis TenPoint Coalition volunteers on the streets across 12 hotspot patrol areas, from the west side to the far east side of Indianapolis. I was out with @Indytenpoint OGs in Butler Tarkington and Crown Hill tonight. The two neighborhoods were peaceful and quiet tonight.
