“A coach cannot coach from the locker room!”
@PrincipalKafele
We need to be in classrooms supporting our staff on the field of play. When things are going well, we don’t just head back to the locker room. Are our teams scoring touchdowns? Are there interceptions? Are there celebrations that need celebrating? Are there affirmations? Are there clear feedback cycles that need to be happening? We need to always resist as administrators to go back to the locker room where it is nice and convenient.”
As administrators, we’re all instructional coaches and leaders at heart. Drawing from Jim Knight’s
@jimknight99 expertise, here are his top three recommendations through the Impact Cycle to drive real change:
1. Identify: Partner with teachers to set a clear, student-focused goal based on observing current reality and pinpointing effective strategies to achieve it.
2. Learn: Provide targeted support, modeling, and resources to help teachers deeply understand and practice the chosen strategies.
3. Improve: Continuously monitor progress, gather feedback, and make adjustments until the goal is met, ensuring lasting improvements in teaching and learning.
Let’s step onto the field and coach with purpose!
