Welcome AfroScope, a major step forward for African language infrastructure. AfroScope introduces a unified framework for African Language Identification (LID), covering an unprecedented 713 African languages, and builds directly on earlier foundational work such as AfroLID (2022) by our co-founder, @IfeAdebara. Beyond the framework itself, the work also presents AfroScope-Models, a strong suite of LID models designed for broad, real-world African language coverage, including complex multilingual and code-mixed settings. This is the kind of quiet but critical infrastructure that makes inclusive, voice-first, and culturally grounded AI possible at scale as we advocate for at @equalyz_ai .
