Our first #BikeTO protected intersection is now operational. A few minor signage changes & completion of the TTC Island to come, but the permanent signals & line markings are in place Bioswale is also starting to do its thing. (traffic signals are bigger than you think they are)

demonstration projects are primarily about public engagement, qualitative not quantitative data collection. If interested in the latter, you are better off pursuing materials that last at least 6-12 months. 1-3 month tests struggle to accomplish the goals of a demo or true pilot.

The “missing middle” of #tacticalurbanism is the materials gap between one week and one month. You can power wash a lot of paint after 1-3 months but it requires accounting for and paying for the expense. A few tricks: one thin layer; don’t prime; and don’t seal.

A few of our year-round #bike commuters took part in a #transportation #photo shoot organized by @lane_cog, @OregonDOT, and @altafieldnotes. Ironically, we used a PIVOT-designed @LaneTransit District Breeze bus shelter as home base.
