Do you struggle with knots? I remember learning these in the early 90's. They were extremely standardized and inspected in the Ranger Regiment, and you were tested on about a dozen in Ranger School. Needless to say, i've got some reps on them over the decades.... It took me about 25 years of teaching them to really nail down a system that makes them easy to learn for anyone. No rabbits going in and out of holes, nor around trees necessary. During my foundational Wilderness Survival Course, students will learn about 15 knots in less than two hours with the progression and method I have dialed in over the years. Here is one example of a Fisherman's knot, tied as a loop instead of a bend, for use on the ridgeline. This Truckers Hitch hack will change the way you do them forever. I was taught this trick in the Robin Sage phase of the Special Forces Qualification Course. A crusty old Master Sergeant taught it to us for use on airdrop pallets for our resupply later. They had to be tight so the pallets wouldn't bust open on impact. I showed this to a couple of instructors at another school in the industry and a week later it was huge on YouTube, being taught around the world, and published in someone else's next book. I don't mention that as a cry for credit, I didn't come up with it originally either. I bring it up to thank that MSG who was my Robin Sage instructor for teaching it to me to begin with.
