➰ORAL MYIASIS 🤹What is Oral Myiasis? 🌀Infestation of the oral cavity by fly larvae (maggots) that feed on necrotic tissue. 🌀Flies lay eggs → Eggs hatch → Larvae invade soft tissue → Enzymatic destruction tissue necrosis. 🤹Why This Patient? ♨️High-risk profile: •🌀Elderly •🌀Post-stroke (poor self-care, mouth breathing) •🌀Diabetes (↓ immunity, delayed healing) •🌀Poor oral hygiene •🌀Incompetent lip closure ♨️Diabetes = neutrophil dysfunction microvascular compromise → perfect setup for infestation. 🤹Classic Clues:- 🌀Sensation of “movement” 🌀Foul smell (halitosis) 🌀Swollen, bleeding gums 🌀Visible crawling larvae 🌀Necrotic tissue 🤹If a debilitated patient says: “Doctor, something is moving in my mouth…” 🌀Think Myiasis immediately. 🤹Management:- 🛡️1-Mechanical removal of larvae 🛡️2- Irrigation (turpentine oil / saline) 🛡️3- Oral Ivermectin (200 µg/kg) 🛡️4-Broad-spectrum antibiotics 🛡️5-Strict glycemic control 🛡️6-Oral hygiene rehabilitation 🤹Delay can lead to: 🌀Deep tissue destruction 🌀 Osteomyelitis 🌀Sepsis 🤹Clinical Pearl:- 🌀Myiasis is rare — but in diabetics with poor hygiene, it’s a diagnosis you must not miss. 🌀Medicine is not just about treating disease — It’s about recognizing what others overlook. #OralMyiasis #ClinicalDiagnosis #InfectiousDisease #DiabetesCare #MedicalEducation #RareButReal #DentalEmergency #CaseBasedLearning #ClinicalPearls #MedFacts #KriMeeraHC

Bell’s Palsy when half of the face suddenly stops obeying you. One moment you are smiling at your patient; the next, the facial nerve abruptly stops functioning. It is dramatic, frightening, and strangely fascinating all at once. Bell’s palsy is an acute, unilateral lower motor neuron facial nerve (CN VII) paralysis that often appears overnight. Patients wake up unable to close one eye, with drooling from one side of the mouth, or feeling as if their smile has been cut in half. And in that moment, even before the patient speaks, the face tells the story. The exact cause? Still a mystery. However, in most cases it is attributed to viral inflammation particularly reactivation of HSV, leading to swelling of the nerve within the narrow bony canal. The result: compression, ischemia, and a face that refuses to cooperate. What is striking is how easily we take our facial expressions for granted blinking, smiling, puffing the cheeks, whistling, raising the eyebrows all controlled by a delicate nerve that can be disrupted by something as small as inflammation. The good news? Most patients recover completely within weeks to months with early steroids, proper eye care, and reassuring support. Because facial recovery is not just medical… it is emotional as well. Every returning smile is a small victory. So, let us salute the power of the cranial nerves, the importance of early recognition, and the art of careful observation. In medicine, even the smallest asymmetry speaks volumes. #BellPalsy #FacialNerve #CNVII #LowerMotorNeuron #NeurologyDaily #MedSchoolLife #ClinicalPearls #PureMedicine #MedicoDiaries #MedicalInstagram #MedStudentCommunity #NeuroSigns #MedicineDecoded #FutureDoctor #CaseBasedLearning #ClinicallySpeaking #MedGram #MedicalReels #DoctorLife #MedNotes

It was a privilege to speak at the recent CME on the role of carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (CAIs) in glaucoma management, where we explored both their clinical significance and practical application in patient care. A versatile drug which can be given for normal tension glaucoma, add-on to monotherapy & in IOP spikes post cataract surgery. The session highlighted how CAIs, such as dorzolamide, brinzolamide, and acetazolamide, are instrumental in lowering intraocular pressure by reducing aqueous humor production, making them a valuable part of the glaucoma treatment armamentarium. Thanks to @Cipla_Global for giving me this opportunity! #Glaucoma #CarbonicAnhydraseInhibitors #Ophthalmology #CME #EyeCare #MedicalEducation #GlaucomaTreatment #Pharmacology #CaseBasedLearning #HealthcareProfessionals
