🆘🆘 MELBIN (ID 249191), 2 YO, MALE – IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an agency on 3/8/2026. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿
➡️TBD 4/16/26
➡️ NEW HOPE PARTNER RESCUE ONLY
➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST
➡️🆘🆘 6th Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY RARE – SHELTER AT CAPACITY - COULD BE LAST CALL FOR MELBIN - VERY HIGH EU/SILENT KILL RISK– 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱
➡️ 38 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT
➡️ MELBIN IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Melbin has been diagnosed with a grade three heart murmur and has missing teeth. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
A volunteer writes: Self starters like Melbin know that the results don't always reflect the effort and that's ok. At least, this is what he's trying to remind himself as he gets through the day. Melbin was brought to us after walking himself into someone's home. Maybe he'd heard about forever families and thought he had an idea on how to get one or maybe he just thought he'd take a chance. As it turns out, what Melbin also needed was a hand, which we've been more than happy to offer as he settles into shelter life. In the meantime, however, Melbin seems to have taken a step back from the hard work of finding a forever family by huddling in the back of his cubby. We know the Care Center can be a lot, but Melbin accepts petting even if he isn't one to ask for it. We hope you'll come in and show Melbin that all of his efforts have been well worth it. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻
