TIME RESTORED 🕰️ David Boyd of Boyd Clocks brought one of Cleveland Street’s most distinctive details into focus: the historic Peoples Bank clock. A lifelong horologist from a three-generation clockmaking family, Boyd described the restoration of the original clock housing, new stained-glass detailing and modern GPS-regulated clockworks designed to preserve the clock’s historic appearance while keeping it accurate for years to come. His craftsmanship is returning a landmark detail to downtown Clearwater with history, precision and renewed life.

China was one of the primary beneficiaries of the Columbian Exchange and early Globalized Trade. China's textile, ceramics, ironworking exports were all invincible and destroying traditional handicraft centers throughout the middle east and Europe. China was even catching up in traditionally European industries like clockmaking and eroding western market share, and had total monopoly on silk and tea. Hard currencies was flowing from the whole world to China non stop, and China even managed to outproduce and dump opium on India and Britain in merely 20 years after the trade was legalized. China had seemingly unstoppable momentum in every industry coming from the 18th century from its colossal (30% of humanity) and hardworking population. Until Industrial revolution in Britain changed everything in the West's favor.

Even before railways, if you wanted to do precise timekeeping for some other reason, importing European mechanical clocks was often far cheaper than building a homegrown ultra precise clockmaking industry.
