The Dark Side of Alt News and Pravda Media Foundation Alt News styles itself as a "fact checking website" as well as a news aggregator of the "post-truth world". Of course, anybody with a single sinew of intellectual honesty and conscience in them knows that the chief object of Alt News has been to rationalise and be the apologist in-chief for acts perpetrated by !slamists and left-extremists. Alt News is involved in white-washing cases of 'Love Jihad/R@pe Jihad' and concerted !slamist attacks on Hindus. Additionally, Alt News also serves as a subvert mouth piece and gives cover fire to political parties such as Congress, AAP, AIMIM, DMK and others. Alt News conducts its activities under the auspices of 'Pravda Media Foundation' which is a company established under section 8, registered under section 12A and approved under section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. This is an effort by Crimson Peak Legal Team to uncover the dark side of Alt News and Pravda Media Foundation though an OSINT Investigation with the help of our nationalist and unionist Bharatiya community on twitter. We would take a deep dive into the financials of the company, as well as the nature of reporting by Alt News. Further, this investigation would also shed light on how the whole kabbal of #BreakBharatForces have banded together to defend Alt News and especially its poster boy Mohammed Zubair. This includes: political parties, judiciary, American deep state, left-globalist forces, academia and of course, !islamists. Here are some interesting facts to arouse your curiosity and set the backdrop: While Pratik Sinha and Mohammed Zubair are credited as the founders of Alt News (website) which is claimed to have started on the 9th of February 2017, the owner company Pravda Media Foundation was incorporated on the 10th of October, 2017. Pratik Sinha’s mother Nirjhari Sinha was the first director and was appointed on the same date as that of the incorporation of the company (10.10.2017). She now holds the position of Managing Director. At the time of the incorporation there was one other director i.e. Murlidhar Pokardas Deomurari. Who later resigned on the 23rd of September, 2019 (a resolution to this effect was passed at the Meeting of Board of Directors held at the registered office in Swagat Palace, Ambli, Ahemdabad on the same date). Pratik Sinha then became a director on the 1st of May, 2019. Mohammed Zubair became a director in the company on the 16th of December, 2019. To understand these characters better we will need to briefly consider their history although we must admit it is illustrious and cannot be covered in this introductory post. The insidious workings of the company though now is often credited almost solely to Mohammed Zubair but the fons venenati bene or the ‘source of the poisoned well’ is in fact Pratik Sinha who was a formerly a software engineer and worked with companies like - Ubiqtech Software, Arada Systems, Humbug, Infonam, ReadMe Systems Inc and Cloudleaf Inc. Before starting Alt News Pratik Sinha had already gained experience in wickedly twisting facts when he designed the political blog site - truthofgujarat.com. In this project he cherry picked facts white-washing the acts of !slamists in over 84 communal riots that happened before the one in 2002. Of course, he followed the same MO when talking about the Godhra riots, building a narrative as though !slamists has no hand in the burning of the train where 59 people, including women and children, burned to death. While the site seems to be dysfunctional now (our team tried to access it using VPN but no luck) there is a twitter handle dedicated to it and can be viewed at @TruthOfGujarat. Further, #MeToo allegations surfaced against Pratik Sinha where there was a victim who had alleged that Pratik had sexually harassed her around September 2021. She has given a detailed account of this which we shall tag in the thread to this post. By now you may have started to get a hint that the peccant Pratik Sinha was the initial driving force behind the insidious narratives being churned day in and day out by Alt News. But to understand his disposition better we must consider his father. Pratik Sinha’s father Mukul Sinha was physicist turned lawyer. He in fact portrayed himself as a “civil rights lawyer” but he was anything but that. He can better be described as a radical left extremist trade union leader. He was fired from his job at Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad for rampant trade unionism at workplace. Mukul Sinha made a career out of building an !slamist-communist consensus, especially post the 2002 Gujarat riots. He ran the ‘Jan Sangharsh Manch’ under the aegis of a political party that he formed called the ‘New Socialist Movement’. This was assembled with the crucial backing from the elements of the Gujarat Trade Union Federation. Through this he promoted rampant one-sided and/or false narratives. Necessarily, portraying as if the M[_]slims were the only victims of the riots in Gujarat. He mustered a few lawyers and public personalities and battled against the then Gujarat government obfuscating and white-washing the crimes of the !slamists through his involvement in the Shah-Nanavati inquiry. Mukul Sinha believed that he would be able to convert his court representations and other sort of aid to the !slamists into tangible political capital. But, alas, he contested two elections and lost both of them. He lost the 2007 elections from Shahpur, a constituency where Muslims formed the majority of the population, and then again in 2012 when he contested from Sabarmati in Ahmedabad. In the background, during this time: Mukul Sinha, Teesta Setalvad (Grandchild of M. C. Setalvad – India’s first Attorney General), Harsh Mandar, Rana Ayyub, Arfa Khanum Sherwani, Barkha Dutt etc were all connected and formed a cohort of spiders that spun a web of lies and one-sided narrative on the 2002 Gujarat riot. Thus, Nirwa Mehta @nirwamehta had aptly stated it in her opinion piece, “many built their careers on the dead bodies of karsevaks burnt alive in Godhra”. Now, let’s consider Nirjhari Sinha the wife of Mukul Sinha. She was the co-founder of Jan Sangharsh Manch and was heavily involved in trade unionionism when she worked for Gujarat Mazdoor Sabha and the Gujarat Federation of Trade Unions. She left her job at Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) in Ahmedabad in 2008 in the name of giving justice to !slamists and white-washing their barbaric acts just like her husband. She also played a crucial role in evolving a Dalit-Muslim consensus through the ‘Chalo Una’ micro-movement alongside Jignesh Mevani (lawyer). After making a career on the burnt dead bodies of karsevaks she had now moved to doing the same but in the name of “Dalit Asmita”. It is reported that her experiences from the Chalo Una gave her inspiration to start Alt News along with her son. Perhaps now one can understand as to the inspiration which governs the thinking of Pratik Sinha. Both of his parents were rampant militant leftists, white-washers and apologists of !islamist violence against Hindus. At this instance, not much is known about Murlidhar Pokardas Deomurari who was the former director of Pravda Media Foundation alongside Nirjhari Sinha. Our team is looking into his background. Now let’s turn to the falsehood peddler in-chief 35-year-old Mohammed Zubair who stole, so to speak, the thunder of Mukul Sinha. Zubair graduated from Ramaiah Engineering College in Bengaluru and worked for companies like Airtel, Cisco and Nokia. Just like Pratik Sinha who started his career in falsehoods by creating the political blog site - truthofgujarat.com, Zubair’s immersion into politics kickstarted when he created an online page ‘tongue-in-cheek’. In many ways the professional affair between Zubair and Pratik was meant to be. They are in ways, mirror images of one another. ‘Tongue-in-cheek’ was a UPA sympathising page and specifically only targeted BJP and some of its leaders such as Subramanian Swamy. It has been reported that Pratik came into contact with Zubair when the former contacted him for not giving attributive credit for material shared from ‘Truth of Gujarat’ site. Those of us who closely follow Mohammed Zubair’s reporting and his activity on social networking sites such as Twitter (X) know that he is famous for deleting and re-uploading his posts with edits when his lies are deconstructed. But here are some major controversies and at least 8 known court cases that Zubair was part of and which reflects his modus operandi of incessantly working in an overt or subvert manner to outrage the religious feelings/astha of Hindus: ‣ In 2018, Zubair shared a satirical tweet with a screenshot from the 1983 Indian comedy film ‘Kissi Se Na Kehna’ by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The screenshot from the film showed a signboard with the name "Honeymoon Hotel" repainted to "Hanuman Hotel". For this he was arrested on June 27 by a Cyber Unit of the Delhi Police. ‣ Ghaziabad Video Case: FIR No 502/2021 dated 15 June 2021 was registered against at Loni Border Police Station, Ghaziabad as/u IPC Sections 153 (provoking to cause riots), 153A (promoting enmity between religious groups), 295A (insulting religious beliefs), 505 (statements inducing public mischief) & 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy). Zubair had falsely propagated a Muslim man's claim in a video that his beard was cut off, and he was forced to chant "Vande Mataram" and "Jai Shri Ram". But upon investigation, Uttar Pradesh Police had found that there was no "communal angle" and stated that Sufi Abdul Samad, the elderly man, was attacked by six men, as they were unhappy over the tabeez (amulets) he had sold them. ‣ FIR No 199/2021 dated 24 July 2021 was registered at PS Charthawal, Muzaffarnagar for offences punishable under Sections 192, 504 and 506 of IPC against Zubair. ‣ FIR No 193/2021 dated 27 August 2021 was registered at PS Chandauli for offences punishable under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act 2003 against Zubair. ‣ FIR No 511/2021, dated 18 September 2021 was registered at PS Mohamadi District Lakhimpur for offences punishable under Sections 153-A, 153B/505(1)B and 505(2) of IPC against Zubair. ‣ FIR No 226/2022 dated 1 June 2022 was registered at PS Khairabad, District Sitapur for offences punishable under Section 295-A of IPC and Section 67 of the IT Act against Zubair. ‣ FIR No 286/2022 dated 10 June 2022 was registered at PS Sikandrarao, Hathras for offences punishable under Sections 147, 149, 153A, 353, 188, 120-B of IPC and under Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act 1932 against Zubair. ‣ FIR No 237/2022 dated 4 July 2022 was registered at PS Hathras Kotwali for offences punishable under Sections 153-A, 295-A, 298 of IPC and section 67 of the IT Act against Zubair. ‣ He was proceeded against by PS-Special Cell as u/s IPC sections 153A and 295A for outraging religious feelings of the Hindu community & for repeated malignment and spreading of falsehoods. Later, he was arrested on 27.06.2022. DCP Special Cell KPS Malhotra had unequivocally stated that he was arrested as there was ‘sufficient evidence on record’. A police officer part of the investigation had stated that, ‘Zubair was evasive on questions and neither provided the necessary technical equipment for the purpose of the investigation nor cooperated in the investigation’. ‣ In 28.08.2023 an FIR was lodged against Zubair for irresponsibly disclosing the identity of minor child in the U.P. Slap Row matter by complainant Vishnu Dutt under Section 74 (prohibition on disclosure of identity of children) of the Juvenile Justice Act. Finally, in Mohammed Zubair v. State of NCT of Delhi and Others (July, 2022) a Supreme Court bench headed by CJI D.Y. Chandrachud and Justices Surya Kant and A.S. Bopanna heard the matter which considered a total of 8 FIRs. Hon’ble milords did not take the hate mongering by Zubair seriously at all, instead stated, “We once again we have occasion to reiterate that the guidelines laid down in Arnesh Kumar must be followed, without exception. The raison d'être of the powers of arrest in relation to cognizable offences is laid down in Section 41. Arrest is not meant to be and must not be used as a punitive tool because it results in one of the gravest possible consequences emanating from criminal law: the loss of personal liberty”. The same Supreme Court judges and the retired judges fraternity acted in a diametrically opposite manner and ganged up on Nupur Sharma for her statement reflecting their deep-seated anti-Hindu bias. In any case, the result of this matter was Zubair being granted bail with highly lax bail conditions despite repeated offences. The bail bond amount was a joke i.e. Rs 20,000/-. Additionally, the sterling effort by Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh who had constituted a SIT to investigate Zubair and Alt News was disbanded on 10 July 2022. The investigation was the ordered to be transferred from Uttar Pradesh Police to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police. Advocate Ms Vrinda Grover was representing Zubair in this case and the prosecution’s side was being pleaded by Ms Garima Prashad. By the way, in the above-mentioned apex court case the prosecution had categorically discussed the rampant Hinduphobia and hatemongering by Zubair. For instance tweets such as: ▪ Tweet 1 : - Against Mahant Bajrang Muni Ji of Rashtriya Hindu Sher Sena, Khairabad, Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. ▪ Tweet 2 : - Sanjay Showing facebook live video of Kurukshetra war of Mahabharat to Dhritrastra : Biplab Deb. ▪ Tweet 3 : - ‘Bajrang Bali’ ki aarti kama shuru karo, ‘hanuman chalisa’ ka path karo, bandar kabhi nuksaan nahin pahuchayega. ▪ Tweet 4 : - Ancient laptops had no processors & RAM. It was later copied by Missionary Mathematician Charles Babage. Sanskrit learning was essential for computer literacy those days. Only Virat Hindus could operate computer as lower castes were never allowed to learn Sanskrit. ▪ Tweet 5 : - Equality to all is Real Ram Rajya. Be it Donkey. ▪ Tweet 6 : - We Vishnu A Merry Krishna “POSTCARD NEWS” Christianity is Krishna Neeti and Vatican City was called as Vatika!!!!Subhash Chandra Bose's assistant. The said tweet is present on the twitter account of Mohammed Zubair and posted on 25 Dec, 2017 at 1 : 20PM (1 PP) ▪ Tweet 7 : - A tweet was posted by him on 30 Oct, 2021 at 3 : 03 PM in which two photos one of Vatican City and one of Shiva Lingam were shown and comparison between them are made. And he wrote This reminds me of @shanknaad post on Vatika-Vatican City. The said tweet is present on the twitter account of Mohammed Zubair.” It would make sense to briefly discuss the Alt News editorial team at this juncture, although we would go into greater depth on the same in the thread to this post. Apart from Zubair and Pratik, the team includes Priyanka Jha & Indradeep Bhattacharyya (Senior Editors), Kinjal Parmar & Abhishek Kumar (Hindi Correspondents and Researchers), Shinjinee Majumder (English Correspondent and Researcher), Mahaprajna Nayak (Research Associate) and Smit Bhatt & Ronak Shukla (Video Editors). Total of 10 members. We would go into greater depth regarding the funding received by Alt News and Pravda Media Foundation but following is known so far: Atul Shrivastava (Public Prosecutor) had asserted that the company had received donations from Pakistan, Syria, UAE, Riyadh, Singapore and other countries through Razorpay (payment gateway) . This was revealed post Razorpay received a written order from the legal authorities under Section 91 CrPC and had to reveal the required donation information in June, 2022. For Alt News team’s and especially Mohammed Zubair’s tremendous track record of hate mongering and spreading false narratives both against the Hindus and the Indian state they were awarded recognition by #BreakBharatForces such as the American deep state, left-globalists, regionalists, parochialists and !slamists both within and outside India. Following of the recognitions are noteworthy to understand who is backing Alt News: Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) had included Indian novelist and activist Harsh Mander, his campaign Karwan-e-Mohabbat, and the co-founders of Alt News Mohammed Zubair and Pratik Sinha in its annual nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. On 26 January 2024, the Government of Tamil Nadu conferred Zubair with the Kottai Ameer Communal Harmony Award, on the occasion of the Indian Republic Day celebrations. Index on Censorship awarded Zubair its Freedom of Expression Award 2023. United State’s Commission on International Religious Freedom maintains a dedicated profile on Zubair often sourcing Scroll.in, New York Times (NYT), Washington Post, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Amnesty International and Hindustan Times presenting a narrative that Zubair’s is in fact a victim rather the perpetrator of hate mongering. The above-mentioned news houses and institutions have also banded together to give cover fire to the Hinduphobia of Zubair. Apart from this Zubair finds considerable support in the Hinduphobic and/or one-sided reporting of Al Jazeera, News Laundry, The Quint, The Hindu, The Print, The Caravan, Maktoob Media and several other left-extremist and !slamist publications. Zubair and extendedly Alt News have also found either obvert or subvert political support from political parties such as AIMIM, DMK, Congress and others. Public personalities such as Swara Bhasker, Yogendra Yadav, Vijender Singh (Boxer), Vinay Sharma, Prashant Kanojia, Aditya Menon, Srinivas BV, Aamir Aziz, Shaikh Sadeque, Disha Ravi and many more also expressed their solidarity with Zubair upon his arrest. In this way, an entire eco-system is involved in rationalising and defending the acts of Alt News and especially Mohammed Zubair who has mastered the art of promoting ‘the right to feeling offended but selectively’ and to the patent disadvantage of Hindus/Sanatanis.
