Collared Doves and Wood Pigeons feed on the ivy too. Slugs and snails shelter among the leaves, and these provide food for the hedgehogs down below.
Speckled Wood butterflies are shade specialists, so they appreciate the ivy and the ash trees for the dappled shade they cast. Other species of butterfly, like the Peacocks, the Commas, Orange-tips, and Red Admirals, bask on the blackberry leaves and feed on the buddleia.
