✨ Post-Alpbach Summer School Event was a success! ✨ 🎓 From 25 to 29 November, 26 brilliant Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. students from across Europe gathered at the ESA Education Training and Learning Facility in ESEC-Galaxia, Belgium. The Post-Alpbach Summer School Event offered participants a great chance to explore Concurrent Engineering, a method of developing space missions where all subsystems are designed simultaneously. 🌍 The event was developed in collaboration with ESA’s Directorate of Technology, Engineering & Quality and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency. 🛰️ The main goal was to further develop "Nostromo," the mission concept initially designed during the Alpbach Summer School, through an interdisciplinary approach under the guidance of ESA experts. 🌑 “Nostromo” is designed to explore Triton, Neptune's largest moon. The spacecraft will study Triton's unique orbit and, with its cutting-edge instruments, analyse surface composition, thermal activity, and magnetic fields, unveiling the mysteries of this distant icy world. 👩‍💻 Students kicked off the week with introductory lectures on Concurrent Engineering and then delved into Propulsion, Thermal Systems, Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator Design, Mission Analysis, and Programmatic, collaborating closely to refine the mission. 🚀 They tackled real-world challenges and presented their comprehensive concepts to ESA experts. 🌟 One of the highlights was the interactive Q&A sessions, which offered students a chance to engage with experts on critical aspects of space exploration. 📡 Stay tuned for updates on next year’s event and other exciting ESA Academy opportunities! 🌠 #ConcurrentEngineering #ESAEducation
