Lighting makes a project. I always consider how things will look in daylight and at night, think about how people live in a space and what different scenarios ask for in feel. I use control4 and often set at least 4 scenes for a room. Sounds a little mad but I often have a party scene, a romantic scene, a chill out scene, a dinner party scene, this list goes on. nice so Home Assistant is effectively a Control4 replacement but this integration allows you to hook up to pretty much any control4 device?

Question for the "smart home" nerds on here: I bought a house which had a pretty serious setup in terms of cameras, alarm, etc and they used Control4. Is Control4 legit / worth it? Been trying to understand if that's the right setup to use in 2026 considering the current state of home tech and stuff. Curious to hear about alternatives.

First thing I had to figure out was what HAVEN was even selling. I kept looking at Control4, Crestron, Lutron and they were all selling the same thing. Control Apps More buttons More dashboards More for you to do And I just kept thinking… nobody wants more to do, people are tired. So I flipped it… what if your home asked nothing of you? And that was it. That was the whole brand. HAVEN wasn't selling control, It was selling the feeling of walking in and the home already being right.

Actually I think you may be surprised to find there are a lot of high net-worth customers that would love to have this in their game rooms. Keep at it! This is awesome. You may want to get in with Home Automation integrators & manufacturers (Control4, Crestron etc) and go from there. Also people who do Golf Simulators in their mansions.

כבר זמן מה אני זומם לבנות אינטגרציה בין מערכת האזעקה של הבית ל-HomeKit של אפל, והיום עשיתי את זה בפרץ עבודה אחד בעזרת קלוד קוד. קצת רקע: יש לנו מערכת אזעקה של פימא, עם חיבור לאפליקציה מתוצרתם. האפליקציה הזו לא ממש מתוחזקת, עם ממשק משתמש לא נעים, ואין לה חיבור טבעי למערכות של אפל. אנחנו בית מבוסס מכשירי אפל, והבית החכם שלנו רובו ככולו מבוסס על האפליקציה Home של אפל, כאשר התקנים מחוברים אליה דרך HomeBridge - מערכת שמגשרת בין התקני צד שלישי (מתגים חכמים, מצלמות וכו) לאקוסיסטם של אפל. כששיפצנו את הבית, רכשנו בקר בית חכם של Control4, מערכת די ישנה ולא ידידותית שהייתה אמורה להיות מרכז הבקרה של כל המערכות השונות, אבל במהרה גיליתי שהיא לא מספיק גמישה לצרכים שלנו ולא ידידותית לאקוסיסטם של אפל. מצאנו את עצמנו משתמשים בה רק בשביל לדרוך ולנטרל את האזעקה, ומשתמשים ב Home של אפל עבור כל השאר. אבל המערכת הזו כן מחוברת לאזעקה של פימא, מה שנתן לי קצה חוט להתחיל ממנו. תיארתי לקלוד את המשימה, ואת הטופולוגיה של הרשת, ושלחתי אותו לדרך. קלוד ביקש לראות את הדרייבר של Control4 לפימא, וגיליתי שאני יכול למצוא אותו בגיבוי של המערכת. למרבה הצער, הקוד עצמו כתוב בשפת Lua ומוצפן, ואין לי גישה למפתח ההצפנה - אבל הדוקומנטציה עזרה לנו להבין איך המערכת מחוברת ומה הפרוטוקול. השלב הבא היה להאזין לתעבורת רשת בין האזעקה ל-Control4; הגדרתי בסוויץ׳ שלי port mirroring ולכדתי את תעבורת הרשת של האזעקה. באמצעות tcpdump, מעבר ליד גלאי הנפח, פתיחת דלתות ודריכה וניטרול של האזעקה קיבלנו מספיק ראיות לפרוטוקול בשביל לבנות תוכנת בדיקה קטנה. ביקשתי מקלוד לבנות דרייבר שיודע לדבר עם האזעקה, לקבל ממנה איוונטים ולשלוח פקודות, וראיתי אותו עובד. בשלב הזה קלוד הפתיע אותי לטובה והחליט על דעת עצמו לבנות סוויטה של טסטים מבוססי פייק אזעקה כדי להוכיח שהדרייבר עובד. כתבנו cli קטן, הפעלתי אותו, וראיתי את הלוג מתמלא. לבסוף הגיע הזמן לבנות עטיפה בדמות פלאגין ל-HomeBridge. קלוד בנה אותו, ובנה לי התקנה מקומית של המערכת לצורך בדיקות. ביקשתי ממנו להמיר לי את זה לטסט E2E והוא עשה את זה בקלות. עוד כמה טוקנים - והכל עובד. פרסמתי את החבילה לגיטהאב (בתגובות) והתקנתי על המערכת בבית. ועכשיו יש לי מתגים לדריכת ונטרול האזעקה, ואינטגרציה מלאה של גלאי הנפח, הצפה ועשן לתוך Home של אפל. בשלב הזה שלחתי מייל לתמיכה של פימא וקיבלתי מהם תיעוד מלא של הפרוטוקול מול המערכת, כך שאוכל להעשיר את הפלאגין ביכולות נוספות (השתקת צופר, נטרול אזורים וכו).

It’s the best of the bad options, my lake house is all Sonos… there’s always some stupid connectivity issue but eventually it works. My house is all control4 which rocks except you have to start playing in c4 then use Spotify, then go back to c4 to set levels. Just buy HomePods.

IoT機器の急増で攻撃対象が拡大する中、新ボットネット「RondoDox」が浮上した。174件もの脆弱性を武器に機器へ連続攻撃を仕掛け、IoTを踏み台に大規模DoSを実行する。最近は新規公開直後の脆弱性へ素早く適応する動きも確認された。 BitSightのJoão Godinho研究員は、2025年5月以降に活動が確認されたRondoDoxボットネットの詳細を公開した。最大の特徴は174種類もの脆弱性を実装した点で、IoTマルウェアとしては極めて異例の数である。攻撃では単一の機器に対して多数のエクスプロイトを短時間で送り付ける「ショットガン型」手法を採用し、1日で最大1万5000件の侵入試行が観測された。 2026年初頭以降は利用する脆弱性の数を減らし、公開直後の影響度の高い欠陥へ集中する傾向が見られる。中にはCVE公開前に攻撃が始まった例もあり、公開PoCに素早く追随しているとみられる。インフラは暗号資産決済を受け入れるホスティングと、侵害された住宅用IPを組み合わせた構成で、UniFi ProtectやControl4、TCL Android TVなどのサービスが悪用されていた。Mirai系コードとの共通点はあるが、目的はDoS攻撃の実行に特化している。 securityonline.info/shotgun-…

I don't think anybody uses tidal. It was actually even removed from control4 recently.

It’s a home AV rack and it looks like they’re running Control4 given that they have Wattbox equipment. Here is mine…

You using Control4 or Crestron?

@Control4 I have been waiting for almost 60 days for getting the x4 connect license in India. The dealer TechMech Engineers(share.google/sRbZZyiZzTlmXMW…) says it is delayed because of payment gateway issue. 60 days for fixing payment gateway issue is pure incompetence.
