My youngest son has been bitten by the car bug. I bought him a clapped out RAV4 before he got his license so my wife and I didn't have to chauffer him everywhere.
He gave that 4-cyl motor the coup de grace via oil starvation, and I made him pay to get it fixed. He did, then traded it for a 2014 Mustang V6 6spd. Stripes, spoiler, intake, headers, axle-back exhaust, wheels, tires, suspension kit. He traded that for a 2017 Mustang GT, which he then did the same things, and a GT500 front clip, gurney flap on the GT350 style spoiler. It was so damned loud, I could hear it from a mile away.
He traded that in for a 2015 Corvette Stingray, then caused his first accident and it spent 2 months in the shop, then the transmission and torque tube were replaced under an aftermarket warranty. Apparently he missed the Mustang, and traded the Corvette in for the same Mustang yesterday (he had the Stingray for less than a year).
He's now had the RAV4, 2 Mustangs (one twice), and 2 Corvettes (the first one died 3 or 4 days into owning it, and the stealership he worked at voided the sale and he got the 2014 Mustang. He's had 6 cars in the last 6 years, which is as many that I had from 16-22 as well.
He's also on his 3rd bike since TG:Maverick came out. Ninja 400, Ninza ZX-6R and now a Harley-Davidson.
I came really close to getting a 2020 Heritage Livery GT350 in 2021. I should have done that and kept my 2012 Tundra CrewMax instead of getting an Acura MDX Type S 4 years ago which I replaced with a 2019 Tundra TRD Pro because when the youngest moved out, I didn't have a truck to help him.
Four months later he needed to move home after his gf broke up with him and I was able to drop everything, rent a trailer and move him home.
