At least da2 can kinda be a standalone (but ppl still need to play dao beforehand) but dai and datv are sooo connected to the games that come before

And i think that ppl should start by dao. Ik some ppl start with da2 or dai but imo that's such a waste of good world. They miss out on a game that introduces you perfectly into the world of thedas (and usually it's just bc of graphics or combat when mods can fix that easily)

I technically don't have a favourite because I love all of the games for different reasons,,, DA:O for it's origins and Tamlen, DA2 for it's Qunari and Elf designs, DA:I for the story, Gatt and my Inquisitor, and DA:V for my Rook, the companions and the smidge of Qunari lore,,,
