Coach
@Brandon_L_Davis is right - power refers to the catch position not what it does. There are:
Hang Power Clean - start stall and catch above 90
Hang Clean - start tall and catch below
Power Clean - start on ground catch above 90
Clean - start on ground catch below 90
If you really wanna get into the nitty gritty you can add in:
High hang power clean
High hang clean
<means you wouldn't lower the bar as far down the body when initiating movement - but the rest is the same from above>
Block power clean
Block clean
<means the bar starts from a stationary start at a predetermined box height - and then follows same terms as above>
Did I miss anything?
Oh and if you do use blocks go get
@dcblocks because it allows you to put the blocks at many different heights to work on weak spots off the ground, or to work where athletes are strong. The stack easy and are light - so when moving lots of them it saves time and energy.
Thanks for highlighting this Brandon!
The power clean never would’ve become a “football lift” if it were called the “high catch clean.”
Most think a clean from the floor is a power clean, which builds power, and a “hang clean” builds speed. Most would think you’re an idiot if you said they did a hang power clean.
