He literally gave himself up as a distraction to Caine in episode 8 so the others can plan things out without Caine noticing, knowing full well that Caine will torture him in some way. He stayed on the purple couch when Zooble told him not to wander off and and stood up to Caine with Pomni to back her up. He was actually making progress and had some character developent, but it was all scrapped.
