Athletes,
Every athlete has access to the same recruiting tools and social media, so why are you waiting and putting your success in others' hands? Stop striving for perfection in your approach to schools; there isn’t just one way to succeed. If you believe there’s a perfect method, you risk not executing at all.
Start by visiting the baseball teams' websites to find the recruiting coordinator’s and head coach’s email addresses. If this is one of your dream schools, let the coaches know how you feel. Introduce yourself, state your position(s), where you play, and provide your coaches' contact information. Attach your fall game schedule and include links to your highlight videos if you have them.
Make sure to hire someone or ask a friend to film you during games, practices, and training sessions. Ensure the videos are clear and unobstructed. It’s important that the person filming keeps the camera rolling without stopping and starting—this makes editing much easier.
Once you have the footage, download the CapCut app on your phone and spend a couple of hours on YouTube learning how to make quick edits. Remember, these edits don’t have to be perfect; striving for perfection can hinder your execution.
Create short action clips under one minute for Twitter and tag the schools you’re interested in. For Instagram and YouTube, compile longer videos showing your full at-bats or complete innings of pitching without edits. If you practice and train, demonstrate your consistent work ethic using the same approach: short videos for Twitter and longer ones for Instagram and YouTube.
🚨 If you don’t move on, it’s because you didn’t put in the necessary work both on and off the baseball field.
