Thank you, Erika Dietrick, for bringing one of the most thought-provoking conversations of the day to the Cybersecurity Stage at DevTalks Romania 2026. As AI continues to transform the way software is built, "The Rise of Vibe Coding & Its Impact on Software Security" challenged us to think beyond productivity gains and explore an equally important question: how do we maintain security in a world where more people than ever can create software? Kudos to You!

🦾 @DevTalksRo was about meeting people eager to learn about new technology, having insightful conversations and, of course, presenting Wave to the world! 🙌🏻 We had a blast talking to each and every one of you and we hope to see you all next time!

From today's session at @DevTalksRo: "Smaller, specialized models can get you 90% of GPT-4's quality at 1% of the inference cost" Interesting to learn how @eMAG (one of the unicorns in Romania 🇷🇴) ditched closed-source APIs for cheaper, smaller models

CEE's biggest tech conference... ...also: Bucharest is great. This week I had the pleasure of speaking at @DevTalksRo, the largest tech conference in Central and Eastern Europe, and honestly, it showed. The expo floor alone was something else: from Google all the way to students showcasing their own robot projects. That range of scale, from industry giants to the next generation of builders, is exactly what a healthy tech community looks like. I didn't get to see as many talks as I would have liked: my morning was taken up by my own session, where I walked through the story behind my in-browser Jarvis and the ideas that shaped it. In the afternoon I got to go even deeper in a roundtable workshop, diving hands-on into the agent loop with the participants. Both were a blast. What I didn't expect was how much Bucharest had to offer. A charming old town, the striking architecture of the communist era, and a very much alive modern city vibe. Definitely underrated. Great connections, great energy, great city. Thanks for having me, DevTalks🫶 🙌

Your codebase is not a vibe. And AI knows it. Everyone is bragging about shipping faster with LLMs. But nobody wants to talk about what we’re actually shipping. More pull requests? Sure. Cleaner architecture? Not so much. We’re optimizing for noise, not longevity. Point Claude or Cursor at a well-architected app, and they become laser-focused assistants. Point them at spaghetti code, and they’ll help you tie more knots. LLMs are mirrors, not magicians. They amplify the strengths, or the mess, already baked in. Vibe coding feels good. You accept the autocomplete. You let the tool run wild. You merge faster than you think. But those shortcuts? They snowball. Quick merges become tomorrow’s tech debt, lurking just out of sight until your app has to scale. Here’s the truth: > Conscious engineering isn’t slow. It’s disciplined. It means setting boundaries. Naming things with intent. Designing for change, not just for now. The industry needs more deliberate builders. Seniors who leave behind more than just functional features. Architects who ask: Will this survive the next wave? We need engineers who are pragmatic and have solid fundamentals in software design, architecture and building systems. Next week at @DevTalksRo, I’ll be diving into why conscious engineering is the only way to stay relevant in an AI-powered world. What’s your take: Is your team shipping smarter, or just louder?

Tbh, the second question is rather insulting :) It's one of the few countries where you can pay by card pretty much anywhere. The only reason to use cash is tipping the waiters if you want to help them avoid paying tax (adding tips to card payments is also available)

Yup - you can pay with apple pay in most places. Cash is very rarely needed, can't remember the last time I used cash.

In June I will visit Romania for the first time to give a talk at @DevTalksRo 🇷🇴🥳 First: Why am I meeting there? Anyone going? Second: How is the cash situation in Romania? Can I pay with Apple Pay in most places?

AI agents are everywhere, but keeping up doesn’t have to be hard. At @DevTalksRo, @dfcostea shows how .NET & Microsoft Agent Framework make building agentic AI with SLMs more simple (16:00 EET). Details: hubs.la/Q03RVj_Q0 Get his book at 45% off w/ code devconau25: hubs.la/Q03RVhGZ0
