After years of trying to convince myself I don't need it, I pulled the trigger on @Ableton's Push 3. I've been a fan of grid controllers for years. I have both @WeAreNovation Launchpad X and MK3. I felt like buying Push would just make me fall into the paradigm of controllerism set by Ableton. I wanted to build something that felt like an instrument, so I wired together a bunch of MIDI controllers with custom control surface scripts and ClyphX mods. It worked—I ended up releasing 3 albums, learning a ton, and becoming an infinitely better engineer. The system is good for what it is, but hard to improve. My recent venture into Arch Linux (of Omarchy) and getting a new box from @FrameworkPuter made me realize how nice it is not to be the person who has to build everything. Sometimes it's nice when complicated things just work. I also don't have to stop using the Launchpad or @DJTechTools Twister. Nor do I have to stop using a Mac, iPhone, or the rest of Apple's ecosystem just to use Omarchy. So much great tech. Such a great time to be alive. ableton.com/en/push/ #Music #Linux
