Great news for sea swimmers in Dalkey 🌊 €10,000 has been allocated to improve sea swimming facilities and access to the water at Hawk Cliff, Dalkey. Sea swimming has become increasingly popular. Improving facilities and access to the water is a priority for us. Cllr Justin Moylan recently had improvements made to the 40 Foot in Sandycove, and plans are underway for improvements at Killiney Beach. These funds have been allocated by Minister Jennifer Murnane O'Connor as part of a wider €330,000 national fund for outdoor swimming facilities in 17 local authority areas, delivered with Sport Ireland and Swim Ireland, to make swimming more accessible nationwide, especially for people with reduced mobility 👍 @JustinMoylan @JenMurnaneOConn @swimireland @sportireland @dlrcc @dlrcommunity @DLRTourism @fiannafailparty @OgraFiannaFail

If as promised the Optional Protocol to the UNCRPD is finally ratified by the end of the year it will be a game changer Then we can highlight serious breaches of the UNCRPD like this, Article 9 We must raise the Optional Protocol with every canvasser between now and Friday folks!

Not even an afterthought as they wouldn’t think of people with disabilities at all only for people remind them! It’s despicable. Every single thing should be done with PwD in mind before anything else then work in everything else. Makes me so mad. It affects families & siblings.

All of these services, are not designed by us, for us, with us. Yes transport is for everyone, however, local gov councils, do not take our inputs seriously & consultation feels like lip service rather than meaningful that leads to proactive actions to be taken.

Sadly, it's so true, we are an after thought on every project planned. We are not included at the start of every plan & when we are, it's at a minimum. Why? It's the same with housing, & services like the social welfare system currently in place or how the pa services work.

I can't agree more. Of course it's possible to make this service accessible. Long style buses with flip seats means that wheelchair users can board & as many as 6 to 7 & more at a time, similar to the luas. The luas has shown what design works best that services everyone.

I can only take 2 of my 3 Children on this service as it is not wheelchair accessible..! Again we are excluded @dlrcc why launch a service that excludes wheelchair users? This is not acceptable , why are PwD always an afterthought? @dlrcommunity #inclusion ♿️ #disability
