I know first hand that this is how it would go down. I became a Dockbuilder as your typical cocky gym bro, looked great, was gym strong and I would get absolutely dog walked by dudes with a belly that smoked cigarettes and ate cheese burgers from a coffee truck for breakfast. But they were all functionally strong as hell bc that’s what the job called for. From digging to running a 90lb jackhammer, picking up rain logged wood that weights 100lb , swapping out oxygen/ acetylene tanks…they all require full body strength, nothing is done in isolation. I’d love to see these bodybuilders swing a 28oz hammer and bang 60 penny nails into a 3x10 for 10-12hrs a day. It would be hilarious.

IMHO Welding should not be pursued as a stand-alone trade. Its like working for a framing company but all you do is drive the nails. Its a skill that lot of trades use and to make money doing it, it has to be as an ironworker, dockbuilder, diver, piledriver, etc

Got sad news that a Dockbuilder I loved passed away last night. This man taught me so much about life. He taught me that showing up everyday with a smile on your face no matter how hard the job was going to be is what men do. We worked together all through COVID and we did some real hard work together. We laughed the whole time. He was in his 40s and out worked every dude on the job while laughing and talking shit. A true animal though. He taught me the toughest men aren’t the ones that tell you, but the ones that show you. He taught me kindness is not weakness, but you make sure they know the difference. I watched him smack a 6’3 dude right in the face and drop him on his ass in front of the whole site and asked him if he wanted to get up and try again lol. The world lost a good one, rest in peace Kuhnes. I love you. 🗿🙏

This had me dying 😂. Blue collar proves that so much of this racist bullshit is just fabricated by brain dead college muppets that never step outside of the bubble that’s academia. I was a union Dockbuilder in NYC for 8 years and worked with every race you can think of and we had a great time and I made life long friends. Race never mattered to us. We all worked our asses off and just wanted to make sure we got home to our families.

One valuable lesson I learned dockbuikding was that obstacles were 100% guaranteed, but also 100% fixable. What separated a good Dockbuilder from a bad one was how those obstacles were handled. If the foreman panicked, the whole crew panicked. Did the foreman ask the men for feedback when he was stumped or did he dismiss them? This applies to life, but I find it really is applicable to building memecoin communties. What will the community do when they are presented with an obstacle, can they adapt? Even when it seems immovable. The best ones will.

When I was a Dockbuilder, it was common to see dudes crush a monster or red bull with their breakfast. But this was out of necessity, not preference.
