i think the shots that linger on her face to convey her sense of confidence hurt the fight too because they're kinda (cinematically) boring in effect, like the camera hangs for too long.
i think they could've framed like a quick closeup around her smirk for the same effect

i think this fight is more or less just kinda oddly directed (in terms of camera work, editing, and staging), but the fight choreo is good. bumping the speed up a tad would help but i think even simpler would be quicker cuts or more dynamic camera movement

yeah i agree. i appreciate the slow, methodical samurai-tinged fights of the original trilogy or the flippy flying or flashy flourishing shit that prequel yoda/anakin did but this falls somewhere in-between in terms of perceived pacing and it kinda lulls
