Selective outrage laid bare: Tandur silenced, Kotdwar spotlighted :
Amjed Ullah Khan, Spokesman, Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT), said the nation is witnessing selective outrage and selective empathy when two comparable acts of humanity receive starkly different responses.
In Tandur, Vikarabad District (Telangana), Noor Mohammed Qureshi was brutally killed and his son Habeeb Qureshi was grievously injured on 26th Dec 2025 while saving a Hindu youth, Kittu, from a ganja-fuelled gang attack. This incident not only exposed law & order failure, but also embodied the true spirit of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb—a Muslim family risking and losing life to protect a Hindu neighbour. Yet, Mr. Khan said, mainstream media, civil society voices, and political leadership largely ignored the case. He expressed anguish that even Asaduddin Owaisi (MP) & AIMIM President who visited Tandur for municipal election campaigning, did not visit the bereaved family.
In contrast, in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand on 26th Jan 2026 a gym owner Deepak Kumar protecting a Muslim shopkeeper from harassment by men claiming links to Bajrang Dal rightly received nationwide media coverage, political statements, and public praise.
Mr. Khan said MBT welcomes and applauds recognition of humanity anywhere, but strongly questions why a martyrdom for communal harmony in Telangana is met with silence, while a similar act elsewhere becomes headline news. “If courage and compassion are to be celebrated, they must be celebrated equally, irrespective of geography, religion, or political convenience,” he asserted, demanding justice, recognition, and dignity for the family of Noor Mohammed Qureshi.
