Having just returned from a fieldclass with my 2nd years, I 100% agree with this. IMO, fieldwork is essential to a geography education, but we can also be creative about what constitutes fieldwork - it doesn’t have to be in an ‘exotic’ location to be worthwhile.

The @CamUniGeography fieldclass in Morocco is my favourite part of the academic calendar. Student projects exploring the prolonged impacts of the earthquake, climate change, disaster, water politics, livelihood change and mobility futures! @CelineMVidal and @Max_VWDV
What an amazing Scotland fieldclass. We saw big Salmon, incredible river restorations & collected cores from Loch Ness at 220 m. A brilliant team of @UCLgeography students & staff. We got out just before the storm! Big thanks to @lochinshoutdoor@CairngormsCo@SpeyFishBoard
Take a deep dive into one of our field classes! 🐠🌊

Thinking of friends in Rhodes... We've been going there since 2018 for our 2nd year geography fieldclass. One of the activities we do look at forest fire regeneration near Laerma. We've seen and measured new growth over the years; in the area that is now on fire again.
Some beautiful highlights from the first couple of days of the #cgesinthefield Highland fieldclass👇⛰️

A day up Cairngorm mountain with all the weather (mist, hail, snow, sun). Last day of our fieldclass for geography and environmental science students. Cairngorm lived up to its Arctic/alpine reputation. 🌏🌱🏞️
