We’re facing a wave of urgent cases, and we’re doing everything we can to prioritize each one. Right now, it’s a mom and her five eight-month-old puppies, all suffering from porcupine quills. Quills are among the most common and life threatening injuries a dog can endure; they can migrate, cause severe infections, and prevent eating or drinking. If not treated promptly, dehydration and starvation become real risks. It has taken two long trips (about two hours each way) to safely trap five of them, with a third capture needed for the last. The first two dogs have already been treated and are resting, three more are en route for care, and the sixth is being planned. Plus add another bottle baby to the mix. ♥️Donate: give.scarscare.ca/give ‼️Chase the Ace: rafflebox.ca/raffle/scars-ct… 👋Join our Event - Tails on the Trails: scarscare.ca/all-events/tott… 😊 Become a Foster by emailing us at FosterProgram@scarscare.ca

Did you know it’s National Volunteer Week? And at SCARS, we’re taking the time to shine a light on the incredible people behind everything we do. First up… our foster homes ❤️ They are truly the heart of our rescue. They open their homes and their lives to animals who need a safe place to land. They drive to vet appointments, show up to meet & greets, pick up food and supplies, attend events, and most importantly… they pour love, patience, and stability into every animal in their care. They take the scared, the sick, the overlooked—and help them become ready for their forever homes. None of this happens without them. To every foster who has said “yes,” rearranged their life, cleaned up messes, lost sleep, and fallen in love over and over again… Thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, and on behalf of every animal whose life you’ve changed—you are everything. 🐾❤️ (Next up… lots more volunteer loving 🥹🥹🥹🥹♥️♥️♥️) To foster email us at fosterprogram@scarscare.ca

🆘 Urgent Call for Assistance 🆘 Warning — this is how a cat was brought into one of our vets. She is alive & receiving treatment. Thankful for the person bringing her in 🥹 As temperatures plummet, the bitter cold has created a crisis for us. We are overwhelmed, having received over 30 animals in urgent need of care just today. Our shelter is at capacity. Despite our best efforts to accommodate as many as possible, our resources are stretched thin. It is heart-breaking to see these animals suffer, and we are reaching out to our community for support. - Adopt or Foster: If you have the means and space, consider adopting or fostering an animal. This will help free up space in our shelter for more animals in need. Adopt: ScarsCare.ca Foster: Email us at FosterProgram@scarscare.ca - Donate Supplies: We urgently need pet food & litter. scarscare.ca/wishlist/ - Monetary Contributions: Financial donations can help us cover the costs of veterinary care, heating, and other necessities. give.scarscare.ca/give Together, we can work to ensure no animal suffers the harsh conditions alone.

To Melania Trump on her FosterProgram. How about working on preventing children from having to enter Foster Care. Fix the problem. In 4 years, our country could eliminate welfare, stop child neglect and abuse, and force single moms to get an education, training, and jobs. At the same time, keeping children safe from hunger and abuse. Giving them an environment conducive to learning and having structure. No more welfare. No more boyfriends living with their moms. No more drugs. No more childhood diabetes. Only healthy kids with a future. Read my book. WALLFARE. Margaret Aune. Amazon books. Until you fix the cause, you will never end the need for fostering.

We're facing yet again, another serious emergency at our Morinville Rescue Centre. Just when we thought we'd seen it all, a volunteers friend discovered two boxes of 13 cats and kittens abandoned on an acreage. How does this happen? Why does this happen? When will these type of calls end? These animals are now in our care, but we're already at capacity with our Morinville facility currently dealing with an upper respiratory outbreak, leaving us with extremely limited options. We're desperate for solutions. We need your help. How You Can Help? ❤️Foster: Providing temporary homes is the most immediate and impactful way to assist. Opening your heart and home to even one cat or kitten can make a life-saving difference. ❤️Spread the word: Share this message with your network and encourage others to get involved. ❤️Adopting makes space for the ones waiting at ScarsCare.ca ❤️SPAY & NEUTER YOUR PETS! Tell your family to spay and neuter their pets! This demand and amount of requests per day, needs to end. Please, if you can foster, email us at fosterprogram@scarscare.ca Your support is critical to helping these vulnerable animals. 🥲🥲🥲

What started off as a healthy litter of kittens, quickly changed. Our “the Price is Right” litter tested positive for panleukopenia. Panleuk is sometimes referred to as feline distemper or feline parvo. Panleuk is highly contagious and life threatening. These poor souls were extremely sick and had many vet visits. They needed to be heavily monitored by their foster home, providing outpatient care with many medications, sub q fluids, force feeding & bum baths. Miraculously, Mom and all her babies survived this potentially fatal virus and are currently undergoing their quarantine period until they are no longer contagious. This group will be ready in early October. ❤️SPONSOR: adopt.scarscare.ca/sponsor-r… ❤️ADOPT: ScarsCare.ca ❤️DONATE: give.scarscare.ca/give ❤️FOSTER: email us at fosterprogram@scarscare.ca

Blizzard and Family! What a difference a few days makes! What a difference a loving foster mom makes! What a difference healthy food, clean water, and a warm, safe house make! What a difference SCARS supporters make! You really are life savers. Blizzard here, and I know it is early days, but I am filled with hope. My family is very large, but I have this amazing foster mom, who seems to have all the answers to all my needs. I literally just gaze at her with adoring eyes sometimes. On top of my poor condition and huge family to care for, it appears I am also deaf. Not that it will affect my quality of life, I just communicate in my own special way. Please keep me in your thoughts. The road ahead is long to grow my sweet babes to adoption age, but the SCARS team is on our side for sure. If you can please: Adopt ScarsCare.ca Donate give.scarscare.ca/give Foster email us at fosterprogram@scarscare.ca Sponsor adopt.scarscare.ca/sponsor-r… Volunteer email us at volunteers@scarscare.ca Share. Spread the word. Adopt don’t shop. Everything makes a difference. A life changing difference.

It has been a flurry of activity. I can barely catch my breath as the winds of change blow through. SCARS runs spay neuter programs in several remote communities that have no veterinary care. The day before our team headed out, a community member called in, pleading for help for one more. One had been found and needed assistance in the worst way. That was me, Blizzard, and SCARS came not a moment too soon. Not much is known about my back story, but my condition speaks for itself. Things have clearly not been easy. SCARS knows that when an animal is found in distress, often there is a human struggling as well and always hope they too find support, just as I have. Caring, dedicated, comforting volunteers carefully loaded me into a SCARS truck. This team would drive 500 kilometers that day, bringing me to the loving arms of my foster mom. I arrived, breathed a sigh of relief, and a very few hours later, a snowstorm of tiny white babies made their appearance. One after another, after another. Ten new souls, my sweet, sweet babes. Ten lives that have a chance at life. Without SCARS, they likely would have perished - no home, no food, and an emaciated mother. There would have been little hope. All that changed because of people like you. Please support SCARS. Each and every day, they change the world for the better. If you can: Donate - funds are low right now. Every dollar makes a difference. give.scarscare.ca/give Grab a raffle ticket - rafflebox.ca/raffle/gooilers… or rafflebox.ca/raffle/sept Foster - loving homes save lives. Our rescue centers are currently facing a critical situation. We are experiencing unprecedented levels of intake for cats, dogs, kittens, & puppies. The number of animals in our care has reached a point where we are struggling to provide adequate space for the constant requests. We get numerous requests daily to take in more animals and surrenders. Individuals reach out to us constantly, hoping we can offer a safe haven for abandoned, neglected, or surrendered pets. Unfortunately, with our current space constraints, we are finding it increasingly difficult to accept new animals. This means more animals remain in potentially dangerous or unsuitable situations. ❤️ How You Can Help ❤️ We urgently need your help to create space and provide care for these vulnerable animals. Here are several ways you can make a difference: 🥹Adopt: Consider opening your heart and home to a deserving cat, dog, kitten, or puppy. Adoption provides a permanent, loving family for an animal in need and frees up space at our centers. ScarsCare.ca 🥹Foster: If you are unable to commit to adoption, fostering is a wonderful way to provide temporary care and socialization to an animal. Fostering helps animals adjust to living in a home and prepares them for adoption. Email us at fosterprogram@scarscare.ca to get started Donate: Your financial contributions enable us to provide food, medical care, shelter, and enrichment activities for the animals in our care. Every dollar makes a difference in improving their well-being. give.scarscare.ca/give Volunteer: Dedicate your time and skills to directly assist with animal care. Your hands-on support is invaluable to our operations. Email us at volunteers@scarscare.ca Spay/Neuter: Promote responsible pet ownership by advocating for spaying and neutering. This helps reduce the number of unwanted animals and prevents future overcrowding at shelters. Every action, big or small, contributes to improving the lives of these animals. Please join us in our mission to provide them with the love, care, and forever homes they deserve. ❤️❤️

WARNING Graphic Images Ahead 🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘 (We have placed them in Facebook comments) 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 In an instant, everything changed. I went from free roaming, no fixed address, minding my own business to critically injured dog attack victim in desperate need of help. My life now hanging in a precarious balance. Saviors came to my rescue, so many people, such selflessness. The very best of humanity. Those who got me to safety. Those who put out the call for help. SCARS intake that said yes. The beautiful soul who drove long hours through the night to get me to medical care and gave me my very own name - Charlie. The veterinary team at Pulse Emergency, who are putting all their skill, compassion, and care to fight for my survival. The trauma from bite wounds is extensive. My recovery is not guaranteed, so many things can still go wrong. I have hope, and I believe the support of this amazing community. May it be enough to carry me through this darkness. Please help SCARS in any way you can. ❤️Foster scarscare.ca/all-events/onli… ❤️Adopt ScarsCare.ca ❤️Volunteer ❤️Donate give.scarscare.ca ❤️Walk for me and all those like me at Tails on the Trail Please note - we would be looking for foster homes for all of these emergency animals when they’re ready. At SCARS, our mission is to transform the lives of homeless animals by partnering with rural community pounds. We take in these deserving dogs, provide them with essential medical care, training, and love, preparing them for their forever homes. 🌟Sadly, many of our furry friends—like Judge—sit and wait for MONTHS, longing for a chance at a loving family. It breaks our hearts to witness the wait, knowing that each day in the shelter is filled with uncertainty for them. You have the power to make a difference! 🐶✨ Whether it’s fostering a dog in need, opening your heart to adoption, or simply spreading awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering—every little bit helps. If you’re unable to foster or adopt right now, sharing this post could help find that perfect match for a waiting dog. Let’s work together to give these animals the love and second chances they deserve!Thank you for being part of our SCARS family and for your unwavering support! 🏡💕#Foster #Adopt #Rescue #SupportSCARS #GiveThemAChance To learn more about fostering please email us at fosterprogram@scarscare.ca
