What a year for react-native-video and @WidlarzGroup! We've been working with the community to turn "what if" into "it's live." Here’s our 2025 Wrapped !
The V7 Revolution 🏎️:
- RNV in general grew by 154,610 lines of code, with 55 contributors and 286 commits.
- We kicked off V7 coding in April and released the Beta in December!
- We were early adopters of Nitro Modules and helped the community make the ecosystem more stable!
RNV is becoming pluggable:
- Offline Video SDK: No internet? No problem.
- Chapters & Background Uploader plugins: For that pro-level UX in video apps.
New OSS libraries:
- Vega OS: The result of early access to Amazon’s new OS.
- react-native-voice-agent: A boilerplate for voice agents in React Native.
On the Big Stages 🎤 OSS is about people. We shared the RNV story at:
- React Summit NYC (Live retrospectives by GitNation)
- We hung out at App.js Conf & RNEU
- Meet.js: @moskalakamil on the real talk about being a maintainer.
- X Lives: Discussing Nitro and the V7 roadmap.
Breaking Records 📈
- Landed our first github sponsor in March.
- Hit 373k downloads for react-native-video.
