We are delighted to share that Surrey has been awarded a Collaborative Award for teaching Excellence (CATE) at the Advance HE Teaching Excellence Awards. In addition, Dr Alireza Behnejad has been named a National Teaching Fellow (NTF).
Thanks to our University Hackathon17 team, led by Dr Shelini Surendran and Kat Mack, Surrey has won a CATE award three years running.
Dr Behnejad, Associate Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering, is an advocate of tactile, or ‘hands-on’ approaches in structural engineering education. Alireza is now Surrey's first National Teaching Fellow from our Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
Both Alireza and the Hackathon17 team are previous winners at the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Staff Excellence. Alireza won Teacher of the Year in 2021, while the Hackathon won the Collaborative Teaching Award last year.
Congratulations to you all, and thank you for your wonderful contributions to the University.
