First time ever seeing chia seeds growing at our farm. Intercrop in mango orchard. Farmers can try growing this cash crop. Easy to grow in black cotton soil. Chemicals free.

Reviving Assam’s Agricultural Heritage in Dibrugarh 🌾 Under the leadership of HCM Dr. @himantabiswa, Assam is advancing sustainable agriculture through women-led innovation, biodiversity conservation and climate-resilient farming practices. At Borpathar in Dibrugarh, the indigenous #Betguti rice was planted in a climate-smart paddy intercrop system. From just 10 kg of seed sourced from Titabor, Betguti is now expanding alongside 27 traditional paddy varieties. @assam_rural

From FB relay cropping group. Relay cotton. Down south… with a much hotter spring and earlier wheat harvest polycropping is IMO a game changer. To the north it can work but the 2nd crop doesn’t have the long June days to express and turn the intercrop plant into beast mode like a pruned cereal pinging the hot summer sun off of and keeping the ground cooler… significantly lowering the early flush of pigweed.

It might not be new research as such. In fact, I remember doing an intercrop of maize and cowpeas to collect data on nitrogen and soil fertility in general, many years back. Intercropping cereals with legumes is a good practice even for ASALs, as it can help retain soil moisture, cool the soil by providing a canopy, and fix nitrogen that cereals need, which can help reduce input costs (fertilizer).

Best crops to intercrop with bananas for maximum profit Intercropping with bananas is an excellent way to maximize land use, improve soil health, and generate additional income while banana plants are still maturing. Since bananas take time to fully occupy space

Plantation status is given only to monoculture crops which need huge land parcels for economies of scale. Even pepper missed the "plantation" tag since traditionally it was grown as mixed/intercrop. So, govt feared farmers may plant pepper in coconut farms and evade land ceiling.

Niceee…you are moving in the right direction. Bananas are good intercrop for coffee. You can get money from both but we mainly use bananas to feed the farm staff. Kindly feel free to reach out to us for seedlings and farm setup advice plus onward management. 256775636111
