Our value doesn’t lie in our job. Or in our productivity. Or in our politics. Our value is inherent in our humanity. And right now, the values our forefathers and foremothers fought so hard to establish — the values many of us were raised to believe in — are being tested before our very eyes. Choosing love is a choice, as well as a challenge. Not just to love those who love us back. Not just to love those who agree with us. But to love the hard-to-love. To love across differences. To love even through heartbreak. That’s what choosing love really looks like. And that’s the invitation I’m holding for myself as this year comes to a close. Maybe you’ll hold it for yourself too. #ivebeenthinking

So maybe give yourself some grace and some love today. Take a minute to remember how lucky you are. It’s December, the final month before another new year. How lucky are we to wake up each morning, to love and be loved, and to keep growing through whatever life hands us? #ivebeenthinking

As we head into Thanksgiving, this feels like the right moment to think about giving grace and reconnecting with the people we love, even when it’s complicated. This holiday invites us to pause, to give thanks, and to remember what matters most. #ivebeenthinking

Something I really want right now is to be as healthy as possible—not just because I want to live longer, but because I want to live well. I want to be strong enough to enjoy my grandchildren and independent enough to give my kids peace of mind. I also want to live in a compassionate, caring, and collaborative society. Every day I’m inspired by people I know and strangers I meet. Sometimes all it takes is a smile or a simple gesture. Other times I feel inspired by a story of love, family, or community. What will be the story of the time we’re living in now, I wonder? Will it be the rise of AI at the expense of our humanity? Or will it be the rise of our humanity in the age of AI? I see glimpses of the latter everywhere I look: a story of how we almost lost our humanity, but then found our way back to one another and back home to ourselves. #ivebeenthinking

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about time — mine, yours, and especially this time we are all living in. As many of you know, a few years ago, I started taking a break in August. I want to read less news, because so much of it just triggers me. I’ll be off social media, which will free up a lot of my time and attention. I’m looking forward to building memories with my grandchildren and more memories with my kids. I’m excited to just be present in the moment. #ivebeenthinking
