I'm working on some pendants / pins that I'm getting printed in steel ($8@JLCPCB, which is ASTONISHINGLY cheap). Libfive isn't well parallelized and has been running at 100% cpu for four days. mkeeters rust successor library (fidget) took less than a second for the same shape.

At some point in the last year, I stopped needing to understand the programs that the llms write for me. I had Claude Sonnet 4.5 write a guile program using libfive, and while it didn't get the 3d manipulation completely right at first, I didn't ever have to read the code.

it's just new skills to pick up. unfortunately hardware folks use limiting propietary software as they have no software skills and don't know any better, but openscad (and libfive if i need to) just works and I can start pumping out designs if I keep on hacking

yeah it actually is. i tried libfive but a bit unstable. was just thinking about how easy it is to have a transpiler, just means that the "api" is good

Didn't expect pre-built Servo binaries to ask for JS `prompt()` input via terminal.😂
This is demo of proof-of-concept WASM "port" of libfive I did while back--running in Servo.
Works by writing libfive generated STL file to "virtual disk"😄 &loading into ThreeJS.

Years after that I finally found a CAD program that I find intuitive. Studio/libFive by @impraxical .
You model shapes in it by writing code in a scheme-based DSL to represent them as signed distance fields.
So it works by requiring the end user to combine two of my hobbies.
