The protesters that were run over in Seattle were on a closed road. That personβs every intention was to run people over. They KNEW the road was closed.
like, instead of not being hired for a job because someone is a person of color, the person doing the hiring could claim that they "weren't the right fit"/"we went with someone else"/ etc even if it was actually a racist decision
systemic racism doesn't always manifest in clear written law like the Jim Crow laws. it's pervasive and often unsaid in society, like redlining as was mentioned. legally, people may not be able to discriminate based on race, but they do it anyway through more "acceptable" means
