Listening to mathcore in 2026

"Metallic hardcore" is just a name derived from metalcore once modern metalcore came into play and mathcore is a subgenre of metalcore

Because it’s not. Hatebreed is Metallic Hardcore (NOT Metalcore) and Converge is Mathcore while that slop is Octanecore.
How is this the same genre as hatebreed and converge bro like actually

le stelle: a voyage adrift is excellent - really strong prog post-metal with mathcore touches. anxiety despair languish is also great, proper atmospheric sludge metal, heavy and immersive. both are definitely worth your time.

Time signatures alone don't make it mathcore. The 2000s post-hardcore and metalcore they're pulling from used odd time signatures too.
