Friends and followers:
Why do you use social media?
It's to reach a larger audience, right? To tell the largest concentration of people what you're up to.
The network effect means that we will all go where everyone else is for the most part. One day we all stopped using MySpace, or aol or MSN messenger or icq or irc.
Managing posts on dozens of social media sites is a huge pain and automated multi-platform posting tools that are worth their salt are either really expensive or don't work well, because the owners of the platform sell advertisers on genuine people having genuine engagement. So, they are disabled blocked and frequently broken.
Or hundreds of dollars a month made for the largest of large companies.
Trust me, I know. I live in the "business" area of products like x and meta's stuff.
The "exodus" to bsky or metathreads won't happen unless literally millions of people are slowly active there. X is currently a better product with more users.
Very few people are crazy enough like us to engage with all of them or have the time to do so.
