👧👩‍🦰Women are often on the front lines of forest restoration and non-timber forest product management, yet they're routinely denied land rights and excluded from decisions. 🌲A gender-forward approach to Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) ensures every voice shapes the work and that its benefits are shared fairly. 🔨The following gender-forward FLR incubation and acceleration protocol was developed by the IUCN, IMFN, and its members. 🌲 As part of the ongoing collaboration between IUCN and the International Model Forest Network, the IUCN Forest and Grasslands Team recently attended the 2026 Annual Advisory Committee Meeting of the Regional Model Forest Network – Asia alongside IUCN Asia and IUCN India. This important convening was organised by RECOFTC and hosted by the Department of Forests and Park Services of Bhutan. 🦗 The meeting brought together over 50 representatives from eight existing Model Forests, three prospective Model Forests, and a variety of governmental and non-governmental partner organisations for technical and knowledge-sharing sessions, as well as field visits and cultural exchange. IUCN presented on several topics, including gender-responsive forest landscape restoration and equitable green value chains.
