トランペット奏者・岡崎好朗さん（tp）、サックス奏者・岡崎正典さん（ts, cl）ご兄弟の新アルバム｢Blood But Blues｣のリリースライブが、丸の内コットンクラブで開催されました。共演は、小川晋平さん(b)、高橋信之介さん(ds)、特別ゲストの小曽根真さん（pf）でした。
2nd.showに参加しました。新アルバム『Blood But Blues』に収録されたお二人のオリジナル曲を演奏されました。
岡崎好朗作♪Ralph Peterson、好朗作♪L’Hirondelle、正典作♪Great Cold、好朗作♪The Sun Set Over The Horizon、好朗作♪The Dragon Flies、アンコール曲は、好朗作♪Gotta Decent Shoesでした。
定刻になるとメンバーがステージへ登場し、一斉に演奏を始めます。正典さんのテナーソロになり、力強い音色で軽快に吹いていき、刺激的な音になっていきます。小曽根さんが笑顔でピアノを弾き、並走します。好朗さんはトランペットソロを小さい音で吹き始め、小川さんのベース、高橋さんのシンバルの音が小気味良くリズムを刻みます。吹き進むと豊かな音色になって、高らかな音を放ちます。
小曽根さんのピアノソロになり、粋なタッチで、綺麗な音を転がすように弾いていきます。速度を上げて、力感に溢れながら弾き進みます。フロント二管が戻り、アンサンブルになり、華やかに♪Ralph Petersonの演奏を鮮やかに結びます。
正典さんがマイクを取り、ご挨拶とメンバー紹介をされました。一曲ごとに、楽しく曲紹介をされました。正典さんご自身が紹介されることもあれば、好朗さんや小曽根さんにマイクを振ることもありました。♪Ralph PetersonはドラマーのRalph Petersonに捧げた曲、♪L’Hirondelleはフランス語で燕を意味する言葉だそうです。
♪L’Hirondelleでは、小川さんがベースソロで、穏やかに、力強い音でメロディアスに弾き、静かな表情で歌うように弾いていきます。一音一音が強くなっていき、大きく残響を響かせる演奏に、観客が聴き入ります。小曽根さんがピアノソロで、可憐な音でゆったりと弾いては、微笑みながら、ちょっとコミカルな調子で弾いていきました。
♪Great Coldは、ある年の大寒の日に、正典さんが小曽根さんに依頼されて作曲をしたそうですが、レコーディングをしたのは夏になったとのことでした。演奏が終わると、小曽根さんが「これはカリブ海の大寒だよね」と一言。正典さんが、カリブ海と言えば、クルーズと、好朗さんに次の曲の話題を振ります。
♪The Sun Set Over The Horizonは、飛鳥Ⅱで航海をしたときに、甲板で水平線に陽が沈んでいくサンセットを見ながら作った曲だそうです。この曲では、正典さんがクラリネットを演奏されました。ゆったりと吹き始め、高橋さんが左手でリムショット、右手にはマレットを持ち、ころころとドラムを叩きます。小川さんが温かいベースの音色で寄り添います。正典さんは、観客に語り掛けるようにクラリネットを吹いていき、小曽根さんが、ピアノソロで、小さな瑞々しい音で弾いていきます。なんという美しい音色での演奏だろう、と感じます。クラリネットのソロパートでは、小曽根さんのピアノとデュオで吹く場面もありました。演奏が終わると、綺麗なボレロの曲でした、と正典さん。
♪The Dragon Fliesは、最後の曲に相応しく、華やかな演奏になりました。好朗さんのトランペットソロ、正典さんのテナーサックスソロ、小曽根さんのピアノソロ続き、勢いをまして、スリリングな演奏になっていきます。高橋さんがこの日の最大出力で、凄まじいドラムソロを叩き、最後は美しいアンサンブルで締めくくりました。
アンコール曲♪Gotta Decent Shoesでは、トリオから一斉に演奏が始まり、フロント二管が続きます。テナー、トランペット、ピアノの各ソロに続いて、小川さんがベースソロで、潤いのある、パワフルな音で歌うように弾き、凄い力感で速弾きを見せ、観客を魅了します。華やかなアンサンブルで、楽しくゴージャスなライブを結びます。
小曽根さんのビッグバンドNo Name Horsesでご一緒されていることもあり、随所で、メンバー同士の気心が知れている雰囲気が伝わり、楽しいライブステージになりました。終演後は、アルバムの販売と、５人並んでのサイン会が行われ、遅い時間まで賑わいました。
