Episode 62 of "In the Interim…" is live. Dr. Scott Berry walks through one of COVID-19's most innovative collaborative efforts, the multi-platform Randomized Clinical Trial (mpRCT). Three global platform trials (REMAP-CAP, ACTIV-4a, and ATTACC) investigating therapeutic anticoagulation in COVID-19 patients made a bold decision: instead of competing to publish first, they combined their data into a single prospective analysis. The result? Faster, more definitive answers. Using Bayesian hierarchical modeling, the mpRCT revealed therapeutic anticoagulation was beneficial in moderate disease but harmful in severe disease. Pooling the data without this approach would have concluded "no difference," missing critical treatment guidance. Listen to hear how three independent trials became one groundbreaking effort: berryconsultants.com/resourc…

I’ve learned so much about #clinicaltrials from the pandemic. Excited to learn more and be part of this effort out today in @JAMA_current defining heterogeneity of treatment effect #HTE from the mpRCT. Expertly led by @ecgoligher. Thanks for teaching me! jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…
