JUST IN: The Namibian police is searching for a fraudster who impersonated a police officer to steal N$148,509 from an elderly woman. According to the police report, the incident happened this past Saturday when the victim, Haufiku Beata (65) from Efululula village, received a call around 11:23 from a man identifying himself as "Inspector Amakali." The suspect convinced her to share OTP numbers sent to her phone. Once the codes were provided, the suspect gained access to her FNB account and emptied the funds. ​No funds have been recovered. ​The case docket is being transferred to Rundu, where the money was withdrawn. JUST IN: The Namibia Student Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) has suffered a data breach, exposing the personal information of certain students online, the Namibia Cyber Security Incident Response Team (NAM-CSIRT) confirmed. NAM-CSIRT, housed at the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia, says the file containing the data is no longer accessible and an investigation is underway to determine the cause and full scope of the breach.
