AI is exceptional at producing the first 80% of a project/product. Why? Because it’s just mimicking what it’s already seen. It’s pattern recognition. Anyone can now “one shot” a software build if it’s just a copy. And it’s seductive to think that translates to new ideas. That’s why “vibe coding” is so addictive & everyone is asking “what have you built?” But the first 80% of a solution is the promise of what it COULD be. The last 20% is the novel, grinding execution needed to “figure out” the solutions to unique problems. You constantly see the promise of what “could” and underestimate the difficulty of the last 20%. The last mile. And without the expertise or conviction, the last mile becomes impossible. This isn’t new. It’s just that millions of people are starting to discover what founders before them already knew: It’s really, really hard to build something. That’s why I think the best thing people can do is look to their own, unique experiences and expertise, find problems that need solutions in that field (the field you are uniquely suited to offer solutions in) and use AI to get you 80% of the way there. The first 80% used to take years and a lot of money. Now? You can launch in a weekend. But it’s not just software products. It’s using AI to: - run competitive analysis - research pricing - build a new customer onboarding sequence - run a cold email campaign - synthesize large data sets - organize your calendar - become a SME in just about any niche subject in your space - launch a website - brainstorm your entity structure BEFORE wasting 5 hours on attorneys and CPAs (you’ll still pay for it, it will just be more efficient) - review contracts - draft an LOI - capture ideas on the fly and build on them Vibe coding (in my opinion) won’t be about the new products that come to market. It will be about the productivity unlock for those willing to learn it. So the next time someone asks “what have you built?”, I hope we are answering in terms of REAL businesses AI has helped us accelerate and NOT SaaS products we think are going to IPO.
