Instagram is the thief of joy. You may be living a great life, but the moment you open this app, you are made to feel that you have achieved nothing.
Instagram gives you self-doubt and an inferiority complex. Your peace of mind is ruined comparing your 'dull' life with everyone else's supposedly exciting life.
There is always someone on that app who has achieved financial freedom at 20.
Someone else has a fully-paid 3BHK house, a luxurious car and a jaw-dropping salary at 30.
Someone is travelling to an international destination each month, while another one has the latest iPhone Pro Max and gadgets that are on your wish list.
All of them tell you that they came from middle class/ impoverished households. You are made to think, where did you lag in achieving this luxury?
Until you saw this reel that bombarded you with unsustainable materialism, you were leading a happy life. You were content with your salary, once-a-year vacation, your comfortable rented apartment, and a modest vehicle.
You did not know that you were missing the things that Instagram now makes you feel lacking in life. This is precisely why I uninstalled this app 6 months ago.
I have never been happier. I remember feeling anxious and inadequate while doomscrolling on that app at 2 am. All of that has gone away.
If you are a content creator, Instagram is the place to go. If you are only consuming content, then, tread with caution
