Akiyama rarely reproaches Kiryu and, if he does so, it is for the understandable hurt of being lied to, mistrusted, excluded, not listened to. Or for the mistakes he thinks Kiryu is making. However, Akiyama NEVER throws back in Kiryu's face the generous things he did for him, never brings them up to guilt-trip him, never holds any of that against him. Despite the fact that Kiryu stopped showing him any gratitude after a certain point, acting insensitively and neglectfully to him. Despite the asymmetry of effort and feelings. There are many reasons he has for taking Kiryu's unfair treatment with almost zero complaints, and I will explain them soon. But, regarding this specific aspect of his behavior (never bringing up all the sacrifices he did for him and his incredibly generous offers), besides his perceived debt of gratitude towards him, the explanation is simple: He didn't do all of that because he wanted to be thanked, because he wanted leverage on Kiryu, because he wanted to make him feel guilty or indebted. He did it because he wanted to, because he loves him and really wants to help him, because he cares. So he takes responsibility for his choices and don't regret them, even in the face of ungratefulness and poor treatment. His conscience is clean, he knows he's being genuine, so he doesn't want Kiryu to feel that burden, he owns that as his own decision. He developed that strength in the past, in the face of repeated betrayal. We see that side of him also with other characters, for instance in a bitterly self-aware talk with Yasuko that ends in a great act of generosity, even if he doesn't know her real motives yet. This behavior is also a way to have more control over his betrayal injury, to embrace some of that pain consciously, not to be surprised and destroyed by it. Just like his tests are a coping mechanism regarding people's unpredictability. His altruism, however, is not perfect. Not even towards Kiryu. He is human and struggles with selfish motives as well, although he eventually manages to minimize them in favor of more selfless intents. Even after Kiryu stopped having any perceived usefulness for his vision of Kamurocho: his love for him has become purely personal, and lasted long after Kiryu stopped being a yakuza, the Dragon of Dojima Akiyama hoped would rule the town. Regarding the initial topic, a part of him also wants to feel needed by Kiryu, and would like Kiryu to want him in his life. Even though Kiryu clearly doesn't care about Akiyama in the least, doesn't love him personally, barely remembers that he exists, used and disrespected him so many times. That's why he is sometimes too pushy (we see it in Infinite Wealth) in self-inserting in Kiryu's life, even in the face of his blatant disregard. It's not only that he wants to help him so much, that he thinks he would have done better at helping Kiryu if only he relied on him and not the too indulgent Date who enabled the terrible Daidoji deal. It is also because he has a partial blind spot that prevents him from fully acknowledging when someone else doesn't love him back (we saw it with Eri, but we also see it in his Infinite Wealth outburst, where he expresses an expectation for Kiryu to act like a real friend or see him as one, when Kiryu never did in the first place). But another reason are some hidden emotional needs and behavioral patterns of his I will highlight elsewhere. In any case, he never lets his selfishness prevail, his genuine kindness always wins in the end. With poor outcomes, that he can handle and usually decides to accept for a variety of complex psychological reasons.

Skate 3 has been recompiled! (Windows/Linux/macOS) (via Rexglue, partial reliance on xenia, but more flexibility!) Early progress includes 120hz support! Improvements over original include: Higher resolutions/framerates Native 1080p/120Hz With physics timing adjustments! It's early in progress but I'm excited it has been a dream for a proper PC version! (We don't talk about the reboot lol)
A little bit late, but there's been an unofficial recomp / PC port of Skate 3 that's been made and released last week. Still in early stages, so expect bugs and only supports 1080p but supports up to 120hz, and physics timing settings (which I'll admit I don't know anything about), sound seems perfect, but does stutter quite a bit atm. Supports controllers and KB/M BUGS: Like I noticed it stutters a lot and my mouse cursor tends to get stuck in the middle of the screen and not disappear. Also for NVidia users, if you save any photos or videos, it either saves them to "desktop" or "Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3" (for some reason)

“Liberal policies turned Canada’s economy into a WEF/UN-aligned migration machine: record inflows, family expansions, temp surges — driving 97% of population growth while boomers aged. Result? Seniors in tents, 50k on LTC waitlists nationwide, middle class priced out. Yet billions poured into newcomers: $1.5B IHAP since 2017 $1.1B more, RAP supports, hotels. Citizens wait years for beds. Newcomers get priority funding. This isn’t compassion — it’s deliberate overload on a system built for those already here.” Supporting Facts (for your thread or replies) • Policy Alignment: Canada endorsed the UN Global Compact for Migration (2018) and positioned itself as a “Champion” country, emphasizing expanded safe/regular migration pathways alongside domestic targets that ramped PRs from ~250k pre-2015 to peaks near 500k, plus temps. refugeesmigrants.un.org • Citizen Reality: ~50,000 waiting for LTC in Ontario alone (national shortfalls tens of thousands more projected); over-50s now ~26% of homeless (up sharply); fixed-income seniors squeezed by doubled housing costs. oltca.com • Newcomer Spending: IHAP ~$1.5B since 2017 for asylum housing pressures $1.1B (2024–27 extension); hotel/motel costs in the hundreds of millions annually at peaks; RAP income supports for resettled refugees; layered on general Reaching Home. Recent cuts acknowledge strains, but cumulative billions contrast with slower LTC/housing builds for citizens. canada.ca This captures the dichotomy without exaggeration: predictable demographic needs met with rapid, multi-stream inflows and dedicated newcomer funding streams, leaving visible gaps for long-term residents. Recent caps (PR ~380k, temps down) are partial course-correction after the pressures peaked.

“Any agreement with Iran, even if partial dilution of the uranium in Isfahan is carried out, will still leave Iran with enough material for a bomb.” So already the current peace deal being considered will be unacceptable. And this comes today as the U.S. is on the verge of signing a peace deal with Iran, while Israel bombs Beirut again, which is also a red line.

Fabrizio Montesi, Marco Peressotti. 2021. Linear Logic, the π-calculus, and their Metatheory: A Recipe for Proofs as Processes. DOI:10.48550/arXiv.2106.11818 Initiated by Abramsky [1994], the Proofs as Processes agenda is to establish a solid foundation for the study of concurrent languages, by researching the connection between linear logic and the π-calculus. To date, Proofs as Processes is still a partial success. Caires and Pfenning [2010] showed that linear propositions correspond to session types, which prescribe the observable behaviour of processes. Further, Carbone et al. [2018] demonstrated that adopting devices from hypersequents [Avron 1991] shapes proofs such that they correspond to the expected syntactic structure of processes in the π-calculus. What remains is reconstructing the expected metatheory of session types and the π-calculus. In particular, the hallmark of session types, session fidelity, still has to be reconstructed: a correspondence between the observable behaviours of processes and their session types, in terms of labelled transitions. In this article, we present πLL, a new process calculus rooted in linear logic. The key novelty of πLL is that it comes with a carefully formulated design recipe, based on a dialgebraic view of labelled transition systems. Thanks to our recipe, πLL offers the expected transition systems of session types, which we use to establish session fidelity. We use πLL to carry out the first thorough investigation of the metatheoretical properties enforced by linear logic on the observable behaviour of processes, uncovering connections with similarity and bisimilarity. We also prove that πLL and our recipe form a robust basis for the further exploration of Proofs as Processes, by considering different features: polymorphism, process mobility, and recursion.

Some people only tell the truth in pieces. They give you just enough honesty to calm you down, but not enough to free you. Partial truth is still control when it is used to manage your reaction. . . .
